Around here you either have the "right guy" or you're going to need some lube after they slap you upside the head with "required repairs needed to pass". I know a few shop owners that won't pull that on me, but still actually check the car out for anything that could be hazardous.

yes because if you don't pay $60 for new wipers you're going to crash and kill everyone in a 500ft radius so they have to fail your car.

one of the inspectors in branson, at the walmart there really gave it to a friend of my uncles. they made this long list of stuff he needed to fix (82 chevy truck) they even found some things wrong with his wifes car.

funny thing is, that the guy that failed them was for keeping the inspections.

you know by posting on the public forums you might have put them in jeopardy of getting in big trouble.

No **** Sherlock. These places, I've never asked for any favoritism from anyone. And aperently Fred's is no more. As for my neighbor, he just moved in next door, just a coincidince. I've just seen they pass marginal things that should probably be adressed. Bald tires, small exhaust leaks, etc.

I believe that a "visual" inpection for factory polution controls will still be necassary. But since they will rely on the same people doing the safety inspection at the local shop all you will need is a mechanic friend that works in a shop doing inspections.

It's all good!

Rotory owners who don't know a mechanic can still take heart in the fact that alot of these guys wont know what they're looking at or for.
