MI Michigan Autocross Schedule and Information

First race for this thread:

Hey guys,

The next autocross is September 12 in Muskegon. This is a really nice event, which includes real prizes and free food. They take really great care of us here. Hope to see you there.

http://myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmE...event_id=10639

Also, I think I'm going to start a thread in the Midwest section titled "Michigan Race Schedule". This will be a place to keep up on the events, rather than creating a new thread for each one. So be sure to check it out.

Okay, we got our sticky thread!

If anyone is coming in from out of town, and needs a place to stay, we may be offering camping space in our back yard again (more like a private park, so the camping is good).

Last autocross of the year will be November 14th (dependant on weather, no snow crosses I'm afraid). Check at www.myautoevents.com for the registration information.

You can also go to www.furrin.org

I will be recovering from surgery on my foot, so I won't be racing but I might show up with the camera.

Any word on when the Furrin group will be hosting their first Autocross? I am itching to get my FB out after the salt is off the road.

www.furrin.org did some snowcross racing this past weekend up at Turk Lake (north of Greenville). They are planning on doing more this coming weekend. Check out their site for details.

Nice! Thanks for the link. I've been considering doing some of these events, I just need a different set of rear shocks so I can raise my ride height a bit in the rear. I have Bilsteins on there now, very short and they work great for autocross, but they're too short to raise the ride height. I will however, only run on smooth courses simply because I refuse to beat my car up too much.

Well, it was worth a try. That would have made for a great video!

Let me know next time you're in town...

First race is coming up in a couple of weeks. This event, taking place May 8th & 9th, always fills up so get registered right away if you think you can make it. Last year we had 14 rotaries out of a field of 70 cars!

Let's turn this race weekend into an RX7 meet.

I'm going to try and make it. I broke my wrist on the 6th, and a few parts went out on my FB (and are on backorder through RacingBeat). I would have ordered through ReSpeed, but they don't list Hawk HPS pads on their site anymore. I'm waiting on rear HPS pads and one Tokico Illumina strut. I also need to rebuild my OMP soon (already have the rebuild kit/gasket and new lines).

Are you going to be racing both days (8th and 9th)?

Yes, I plan on racing both days. The only problem is, it's Mother's day. So, maybe I'll celebrate that with the wife a week early and she'll let me off the hook.

You should have let me know you needed an Illumina. I just gave my old set to Billy because I figured he'd have a use for them somewhere. Respeed doesn't carry the Hawk pads right now, I think they're contact for them went under or something.

Go ahead and register for the event if you think you can make it.

I might do a BBQ/Campout in my backyard again this year, so if anyone needs a place to crash let me know as soon as possible.

We will be doing course setup Friday night, probably be there until 8 or 9pm.

Not sure if the BBQ will work out, and camping might be a drag. Weather forcast is 45 with rain and high winds.

Weather report is improving. Up to 50 degrees for Saturday, with a few scattered showers. Normally I pray for rain, because I love racing in the wet, but for this race, my tires are pretty bald so I'm hoping for sunshine instead.

The wife should be around the house all evening, but if not, you know where the backyard is so help yourself.

It looks as if I'll be there tomorrow with my buddy Bret. We have some wrenching to do tonight, along with some dark beer drinking (80 oz boots of Stout at The Heidelberg in Ann Arbor...).
