I just picked up a 93 RX-7 that needs the brake vacuum hose recall done on it. I am in West Lafayette but my house is just North of Chicago. Does anybody know of a reputable dealership anywhere around either Indianapolis or Chicago? Thanks.

 

I've heard pretty good things with Autobarn Mazda in Countryside. A lot of the 8 guys have gone there IIRC.

I'm likely too late. I had problems with that dealer when I took my 8 to them in 2005. My current dealer of choice it Continental Mazda in Naperville. The provide us a 20% discount under MSRP on parts.

 

I actually haven't had the time to go to the dealer yet. Is the quality of their work good? And are they knowledgeable about RX-7s?

 

No, they most certainly are not knowledgeable. When calling them earlier this year to inquire about trans and diff fluid changes the reply was "we don't have the tools". WTF.....a lift and a couple of sockets, no?

 

The brake booster hose recall does not require any special tools, just a pair of needle nose pliers. Both are accessible without removing any parts from the engine bay, you do not need to go to the dealer to have this done.
