Hey Iowa III
Aaand I'm back again. Parents threatened that either the 7 drives out of the garage within a few days on its own, or it's going out on a tow truck to the scrap heap. Worked on it for all of half an hour before I ran into expensive problems, so I figured I'd stop by the boards again and shop around for ideas. The contents of the gas tank look like the outcome of a botched colonoscopy. Gas sludge and rust reign supreme, and the inside wall is already in holes. Sending unit us covered in the same sludge. The fuel pickup is clean but the strainer is torn. I've got my head between my legs, and two more projects in the wings (one is a '67 Yamaha YL1 in pieces in my living room that my parents don't know about yet).
Are you still getting fuel to the engine? take your fuel supply line off of the main rail(should be hooked to the press regulator) and put the end of it into a bottle- then turn your key to the on position- you should hear the fuel pump and see it spray fuel into the bottle. if you dont your line/filter is clogged with your coloscopy goo, if not you have another issue...
not quite sure if this applies because i dont know the rest of your setup/problems.

The problems are many and the setup is close to stock. I blew all of the lines clean. I had a filter installed on the line before the fuel pump before I ever cranked the engine. Fuel pump is a new solid state drive one, and it works great (when it's pumping gas out of and back into a bucket). I also cleaned the lines with an air compressor, so they're good, same with the fuel pickup. The issue lies in should I try to repair my gas tank or just say screw it and replace it with a fuel cell. The car is specced to stock right now.
I'd snag one in a second if it takes anything less than a welding torch to make it fit my fb, but didn't the TII's come with in-tank fuel pumps? My little carbed fb sips through an external electric pump.
Yeah, I'm a first genner. Took another look at my tank, and spent the last two hours cutting half the baffle out of it. The baffle was the worst rusted part, and now it's moderately livable, at least until I can put together some funds for a fuel cell. Got about four cups of rust flakes out of it, though. I'll take a picture for posterity's sake. Started cleaning the sending unit and chunks started falling off of the outer shell. Gonna try to fabricate a new housing for it, but until then, my gas gauge didn't work anyway, so screw it. Time to blow the lines clean again and hang this sucker. Wish me all sorts of luck.

It was both but the power gain after I got on it was totally worth it, don't know if I would spend another 12 hours doing it but I'm glad it's done.
You need to get the A.E. done so we could go up to Cordova and see what they both will do.
Hell no. I'm not abandoning any of my projects. Just gotta make more money (if anyone needs 90-93 Accord parts of 2002-2006 impreza parts, let me know, I have a venerable junkyard in my basement). Also, no need of any more vehicles (take a look at my sig - all but the rx7 and the re5 work).
At the suggestion of rotorheads, I'm taking the gas tank to a radiator shop to be cleaned, since I got all of the baffles wobbly bits out. It'll slosh a bit, that that's fine, I was going to add a backup fuel pump somewhere down the line anyway. It's running really rough when it does, though, even though the carbs are freshly rebuilt (although it runs much better than it did before the rebuild). Once it runs from its own gas tank, time to troubleshoot.
Gonna install new rubber fuel lines, too, and a fresh fuel filter. The fuel filter I have on there isn't too old, but it was working off of a rusty gas tank, so time to replace, and the fuel lines are old and getting brittle. Considering the exhaust temp on the 7, I'd rather not drip fuel.

im trying to get my motor redone here, my other walbro and 1600's are on the way, along with my 20lb waste gate spring

hard to say when ill find the time to finish it tho lol
So E, have you gotten anywhere with Skeletor? I'm pretty sure I have a place to work on it now and I have a way to pick it up from the looks of it. Just wondering how things are going.

i can get it wherever we need to be if you really want it, i need the space.
gimme a call tomorrow and well chat.
No hood, fenders, headlights, or front bumper. I don't have anything aft of the front seats unless you don't mind it being a bit scrunched. Car was a 2003 2.5RS (so N/A) with an auto tranny. Got the drivetrain and the front suspension, engine, tranny, and most of the interior.
