Grand Rapids Meet/Race July 14th/15th

Okay, it's only a couple of weeks notice, but there will be a 2 day AX event July 14th/15th.

Let me know if anyone is up for a weekend of racing and bonfires.

Location: Wyoming, Michigan (Grand Rapids, West end)...

I plan on racing both days in my 3, assuming i get my side motor mount replaced in time. I live in GR, but may be interested in stopping in for a while as long as you have room in your driveway for a piston engine

Why the heck not.... I'm gonna give it a shot.

Seeing as to how it'll be my first event what safety gear do I need and can it be found locally?

Snell approved helmet, but the Furrin Group has loaner helmets if you need one. Make sure your car is bolted together well and not leaking, and that your battery is strapped down. You will have to pull everything loose out of the car, even floor mats.

Here's a good article to scan through: Solo II Novice Handbook
Note: The Furrin Group is not SCCA, but loosely uses SCCA Solo 2 rules.

My car only has that battery tray+box which is broken and probably wouldn't have passed anyways if it wasn't. Can anyone give me a hand at figuring out a way to get the battery held down?

I thought J hooks might work with a bar across the top but the only place I can install them(that wont affect the way its mounted) is the plastic/nylon battery tray and I'm unsure if that would pass the safety inspections.

If you can get the car to my place, we can get it fixed (battery mount). I'll probably be helping with course setup Friday evening, but should be back to my place by 9pm or so. Got a couple of couches available for overnighters, or if you like camping, got plenty of tent room too.

P.S. The place to hook in those J-hooks is under the nylon battery tray, where you will find a metal shelf that actually holds the battery. That is exactly the type of holder that I use.

PM returned. Thursday evening is probably the best bet. You work about 1 mile from my place.
