MN Front Plate Go Bye Bye Anyone?

Sick of your front plate? From Minnesota? Your rx7 a 1989 or earlier?

Well I found out that we can rock the no-front-plate business. If your car qualifies for collector status but is a daily driver, you can choose whether or not you want to have a front plate on your car.

Here is the proof! Its in 169.79 subd. 4

Yeah, but collector plates are $95.00 vs. $19.50 for new tabs

I know, I had just a back collector plate on a car I had.

You don't have to have collector plates, you just have to qualify for them

Someone at your DMV was taking your money then, I just bought collector plates for my FB. It was around $40 (one plate), and there are no tabs, its good for life.

Great discovery man, the reason I bought a collector plate was so I didn't have to have a front plate. Oh well, I dig the collector plate and the not having to get new tabs business. Now I just have to worry about some ***** cop pulling me over and questioning me why I have them. I'm going to post this over on mnautox, I'm sure I few people there will appreciate it.

Thats not to say you need to put your front plate back on. Most of the people in MAC run without front plates and most report very little trouble with the law because of it.

I just didn't put my front plate on (wasn't attached when I bought the car). I haven't been bugged yet. Must be the sexyness of the car that distracts them

I now have collector plates for both my rx-7s. No tint law. No emissions equipment required. No tabs. No taxes. AND NO FRONT PLATE. SOOOOOO NICE...

If you do this in MN you need to remember one key phrase: "I am just taking my RX-7 out for a joy ride."

If you get pulled over, NEVER admit you are driving it to and from work or anywhere else for any specific reason or they can confiscate your plate if they want to be a jerk about it.

Prior to my collector plates i was pulled over twice for it, though never ticketed.

My buddy has an S2000 and he has gotten over 20 tickets for no front plate, but they all get reversed when he brings in a picture of his car, with a photochopped front plate on it...
