Calling all FD owners at / near Palatine, IL
Hi,
As some of you guys already know, I am considering the purchase of a car in Illinois, and I live in Miami, FL. (See thread titled "Considering Purchasing this car") I appreciate all the advice that everyone has given me, specifically not to purchase a car I have not seen. Unfortunately, It is 1500 miles away from me, and I need to be more secure concerning the conditions of the car before driving up there. I would need someone that lives at or close to Palatine, IL, to please go see the car for me. It would have to be done during the week, in the next couple of days, since I am planning to drive up there in the next week. If anyone is willing to do this, please let me know and I will arrange for the salesman to have the car ready. Thanks in advance.

Clean FD on cars.com, drove personally
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is an RX-7 on cars.com selling through a dealer named exotic motors that has 44k on it and is going for $16,900. I checked it out today, the body is in good shape, the interior is good considering its a 13 year old car, but everything else on it seemed like it was on its way out. The clutch seemed pretty bad, it kept slipping in gear, and reverse was almost impossible. The power steering seemed really stiff, or almost non-existant. The car in general seemed extremely underpowered, and I drove it for a good half hour. This car is also 100% stock. There are no aftermarket parts on it whatsoever. So I was just posting this as a heads up to anybody interested in getting a low mileage RX-7, and to also warn that it seems like this car is going to need alot of work coming up soon.
I hope this isn't it...

Thank You for the heads up. It seems that it is the same car. Unfortunately, I feel extremely disappointed. With more reason, I defenetly need someone to go see the car for me. Someone that can talk to me while they are test driving. I plan to confront the dealership regarding these claims, but it will be more effective if someone that I can trust is test driving the vehicle. Anyone is that is willing to help? Thanks.

Merciless,
This might be a stupid question, but, do you own an FD? The reason I ask is because if you do, then you know what to expect of one. If so, maybe you could do me the favor of going to test drive the car. It's in Exotic Motors. If you are up to it, I can set it up with the salesperson. Please let me know. Thanks.
Impactwrench, what are the specifics of your car?
