Any reputable rotary-rebuilders in/near KY?

My car needs a new-motor or a rebuild. Where should I go, or should I just have the tech's at the dealership look do it?

I told my friend(Lou) about your problem and he should be contacting you, if he hasn't already.

He's a member here on the forum under the same name. I've been impressed with his posts, seems honest and knowlegable. Prices also seem fair.

Well dude thanks for the coments I do try very hard with the work I perform. Its been too long since I`ve got out .I will promise my return into this area stronger than ever I`am very good at what i do (sounds like bragging) But ask the man who started this post about what I told him after driving 2 hours to his house in Lagrange about what the joke mazda dealer told him on shelbyville rd. I checked the compression and found 7.7-7.7. 7.8 at 252 rpm on the rear rotor and the front was 8,7-8.7-8.8 at 255 rpm That damm sure aint no blown motor But what he has is a vacumm leak on the lower manifold. The car is very clean and the owner and I have some nice plans for the future. I`am gone take up all the kentucky work out there. I owe some of my old friends money and they know who they are. But that has nothing to do with my performance has a rotary tech, No mazda dealership can hold a candle to what I know about rotarys I`ve been working on then since 1983 before most of you where out of your daipers. Damm it did feel really good to help someone in need and only charged the customer for fuel up and back to madison county P.M me if you need anything at all. Ask cameron worth about my work I performed at his shop during 1998 and ask bryan smith about his customer I made a repair to after david gageby`s car broke down on the way home from nc engine build. I`am that good. I will admit I don`t know everything. But most if it I do Never forget the basic`s they`ll always catch you up in the end.di i show you my new used blown up 7 I do have a long list of references of work performed thoughout 5 states.

Louis, that was very cool of you to drive that far out of your way to give me a free diagnosis. That Mazda-tech is capable with rotaries, but he's just dis-honest and dis-honorable. You actually explained everything that you were doing while you were doing it for me so that I could understand and become more familiar with rotary-technology. I look foward to doing business with you in the near-future. I drove the car today and the shuddering/bucking at 3000 RPM's is becoming more and more annoying, but driving in slow traffic or between stop-lights is far more irritating. I tried practicing "launching" (slowly) from a stop or cruising in low gears in an empty parking, but the first-gear is really tricky; she sometimes responds well under mid/high-throttle (not full) but other times she totally lags and it sounds like the engine is missing/needing something or knocking/grinding (yes, oil-level is fine), and other times she jumps like she does in high-gears at 3000 RPM's and launches hard even under low-throttle... I find the only way to cruise in scenarios requiring frequent stopping without boosting into the back of the car ahead is to ride the clutch, and I can't keep doing that. She no longer responds as well as she did under mid/high-throttle on the highway either, as the "lagging" is starting to occur in high-gears as well. I really would like to get this problem resolved.

Hey steven that rotary tech doesn`t know what he was doing If you remenber he said he adjusted the ilde But what he did was adjust the throttle stop screw not the ilde screw in turn he fucked up the throttle position range. And caused the car to start surging at any rpm. It will also need to be reset along with lower intake gasket replaced. Do try to buy a down pipe to rid your car from the stock precat.

That sounds like a grounding issue that is very prevalent on most 3rd gens. If I am not mistaken, there was actually a factory recall on the ground strap that runs from the top of the intake manifold to the chassis.

Oh yeah, the Mazda dealer on shelbyville road...... don't go to them at all. My friend went there because he was having a sequential boost issue. They charged him $600 for a new rack of solenoids. It didn't fix the problem. I took one look at it and changed the vacuum lines to where they needed to be. Voila, instant fix. That place is the worst place to take a seven. I might use them for their rotary compression checker, but everything they say afterwards sounds much like this. "bullshitbullshitbullshitbullshitbullshit your motor is blown bullshitbullshitbullshitbullshit we are the only ones who can fix it bullshitbullshitbullshitbullshitbullshit maybe you should just trade it in for one of our cars bullshitbullshitbullshitbullshitbullshit I am a master rotary technician bullshitbullshit."

If you can't tell, they have highly annoyed me in the past. The worst part is that I live right across the street. I think I'll go do dohnuts in their parking lot now to blow off some steam.

And this Louis person, is he opening up a shop here? I'd love to stick my head in and chat with some real rotary enthusiasts once in a while.

Hope you get your hesitation fixed !!!

Yes, I forgot that, for the love of god get a downpipe. FD + precat = not pretty. IF I had the money I'd buy you one right now.

Lou is from Richmond and has been working on rotories for years and is probably one of the most knowledgeable rotorheads that I know. He recently closed his shop but he still works on vehicles at his house when he's not working.
