why don't we set up a drive instead? Can't understand why people want to sit around in a downtown area where all the punks and cops are when we have cars and they are meant to be driven...

Planning on doing a day trip from Apple Valley down to La Crosse if anybody is interested in June but instead of Hwy 52, take 61 and some of the county roads to Winona and then over the border - lots of curvy roads and hills.

there's a guy on craigslist, his name is ken.. he's parting out a 87 auto, a 89 man... i took a few things off the 89. cluster, wiper switch, and waiting for rear 5 lug hubs, and S5 intake.. he lives in minneapolis.

here's the craigslist link: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/688346089.html

great guy, but i might just resell the manifold unless someone can help me set it up on my S4. i read the write up... seems confusing...

flammable! -search-

search first, no rotary tech shops exist anywhere near us. more around the coast and by southish areas... we're at best rebuilding our own things... or if you have the luxury, ship it to the closest and most reviewed one.

If you need some help with something there are people around that know rotaries. I know my way around 2nd gens. There are two guys up on the NW side of town that know 3rd gens very well. Etc...

rosemount huh, I used to live down there. Worked at U Pull for a couple years until I finished school and moved. Next time I'm in the cities we should chill and talk rx7s man. Here in Bemidji there is 1 other rx7 guy and he bought it to put a v8 in, so yeah, not much here. Let me know if you know anyone with a decent s5 turbo motor too, I'd be interested, haha.

hey rocklobster, i got a leak from the front of the engine, its coming from behind the clutch fan.

my buddy told me his cousin can probably help fix it. i need help, but for now i'm going to car x where this rx7 guy works.. he has the fc RE-bodykit too. my buddy told me his cousin can probably help fix it.

hit me back asap!

oh, i read this link too :http://fc3spro.com/TECH/PROBLEMS/P1/LEAKS/OIL/fseal.htm

but i'm unsure of myself wanting to kill my engine.

Most likely front main seal. Mine was bad too before i had the motor rebuilt...(due to bad oil control rings and crappy housings).

Its not a terrible fix. I belive that you simply need to remove all the belts, take the front pully off (careful to hold the torrington bearing in place) and pull the seal out, drive a new one in with some grease on it, put everything back togeather and done.....i would have to check the manual to see if im missing any details...

Please don't go there or look them up if they even still exist which I know their st. paul location closed a few years back - personal experience. They are liars, don't know anything about turbo-charged versions, and when they did have a shop it was a dive.

You do not need a rotary-specific shop unless your problem is related to the internal workings of the engine itself - don't know why people think that just because the car has a different engine it means the entire car is unique - it's not and any quality shop can work on it. The engine diagnostics/rebuild issue is another story.

There are locals here (as Rocklobster has stated), that are good at working on rx-7's as well. One in particular is located in Hastings and his name is Chris S. (can't remember his user name on here at the moment). There are others as well but most people are interested in $$ if you want more than just advice, which is only fair since you are asking a service for them to do (time and their tools, etc).

Yeah, the guy at RX-7 heaven has the IQ of a meatloaf. He is really good at parting out cars and selling parts for way too much.. Beyond that he dosnt know jack....he folded up his comercial shop and now just works out of his barn behind his house...

In all seriousness his buisnes was based mostly on salvage work and setting up 1st gens for fairly simple racing, like ice racing etc.... really has no knowlege of modern automotive systems. Even 2nd gens he really dosnt know how to tune or fix...

I remember once being in his shop in Roseville and seeing a couple of his monkeys have a transmission drop to the floor from a car that was up on a lift. Wonder how much he charged for that tranny?

I have gotten parts from that gentleman. He is not tuned up for this kind of atmosphere. Very old school, acts a fool but really knows his gen1 stuff, not including engine work though.

I have no complaints about parts or prices, if you snipe shop him, of course its expensive, but if you need a few items, very reasonable. My experience with him is from previous years, and I had np driving a couple hours for the parts.

Must be some bs giving a bad reviews, probably why he shut down shop. Lots of alpha forum attitude bleeding into the streets, and its teh lamah. Maybe some those h8rs should stick to bad advice and hope for parts cars.. dicks.

Thanks for the information guys. It has been very helpful. I don't actually need help on my engine right now but was just wondering what everyone in the area is using. You know, for the time that I will need it.
