I had an 83 GSL back 30 years ago, great car, should have kept it, anyway...Got a good running daily driver, 82 GSL 5 speed for my 17 year old. Haven't had alot of luck finding the guys that used to work on these. We don't see many around Lincoln. Any fellow RX7 geeks in town?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I’m in Bellevue but most familiar with the FD (3rd Gen). Had an 81 WAY back in the day but it was stock and no real “tuning”...just maintenance. Are you having issues? Should be a downloadable Factory Service Manual in the 1st Gen sticky’s. Been meaning to make it down for the Friday night thing on 27th St. Happy to help if I can.

We had it running perfect, then I think he burned up an ignitor while out "cruising", so we've been painfully trying to solve that issue. Meanwhile he pulled the distributor with out reading up on it so didnt get to TDC or mark the shaft...so now we are hunting up an ignitor or two and it will need to be timed....got a great deal on the car, but i feel I'm spinning my wheels on this one. I knew parts were hard to find, but i evidently didn't read far enough into the forums before I bought.

Had a very chance meeting of a rotary geek in Lincoln. I was (reluctantly) calling AutoZone to confirm an online availability of an ignitor I saw online. The guy answered the phone with "Autozone, whatcha driving?" Pretty pleased when he, himself, had the distributor out of an 80 RX7, with working, tested ignitors for a hundred bucks...the ignitor I was calling about was $175. So, for a hundo, I have a spare distributor and two ignitors. What are the odds... Gotta love car guys. Thanks for the reply Sgt Blue.
Good to hear. Let me know when you are up and running. Love to see the car. I bought a 81 ‘S’ brand new shortly after getting out of school and starting a “real job”. Sold it ~3 years later to buy my first house but it’s what got me started with a rotary.
You said it was for your son...I remember having to keep a winter “beater” because they suck in the snow and liked to flood when it got cold outside. Just sayin’.
