timing

hey my engine has a slight miss at idle and runs rich. It has a street port with 850 and 1600cc injectors.Wondering if my timing for idle is to low, (7 deg) I see people are running 15-20 deg on bridge port motors.

I was running up to 20 advance at idle. However, just recieved a base map from microtec and they gave these figures.
T_RPM

idle 0
1000 +10
1500 +15
2000 +20
2500 +25
"
9000 +25

This is for 100 octane fuel. If you are using less octane fuel then please
take 2 degrees off the Trpm figures. (from microtec)

T_MAP

25hg +5
20hg +4
15hg +3
10hg +2
5hg 00
00hg 00
2psi -2
4psi -4
6psi -5
8psi -6
10psi -7
12psi -7
14psi -8
16psi -10
18psi -11
20psi -11

Will not post what figures I had since the motor just went, probably from too much advanced timing. My advice is not to use someone else's figures since every setup is unique. My car was running fine until I screwed with my timing.

Please be careful and good luck

I got the same figures from microtech but I was more conserned with the advance with the idle. I don't think my timing is high enough. I'll also pull -2deg out of the t-map. What RPM does your motor run at?

Now that you said something, I have the same T-maps in my car so I'll be removing some timing. You may have saved my motor. THANKS

Yeah, too much timing advance will pop the engine in no time...

"How much is too much" depends on gas, engine ports, manifold, turbo size, intercooler, intake manifold, etc...
