New Year, so let me hear the new ignition setups.please
The thing is im going to buy my alkycontrol Ai kit, hoping to be running 20-25psi of boost with my borgwarner 74mm. Just wanted to know if my ignition setup can handle this and what are your recomendations
im currently running the x4 box with 4 fc trailing coils. 15psi, no breakups.
ive been researching but nothing solid has come up and its all old news.
the only thing ive been seeing is running two msd dis-2 boxes with MSD 8207 coils.
(which that will hurt my wallet beyond measure XD)

yea im going to upgrade to the two msd dis 2 boxes. going to start of with one dis2 ho. and msd 8232. for the leading..
on another note, i installed the dis2 box already and now the leading coils are arching lol. probably because of the boost in power. going to get new cables and try and put the new coils in by friday for the track. want to get into the 7s already!! (1/8th mile)

I just started boosting with my new ign-1a race coils I love them, I ditched the x4 and run them straight from lt10s,
did couple 3rd and 4th gear highway pulls last night on old e85 in the tank,
@18psi. up to 8krpm. with 9.2 to 9.4 afr. and the car was still pulling hard with no brake up at all,
this was on gt4094r, before as soon as I would get close to mid 9's afr the car would brake up,
my old setup was x4 with bosch coils

ign-1a race coils should handle methanol with no problem,
as soon as I get some time to work on the cars I will order some more from a forum member,

The AEM High Output IGBT Inductive Coil
everything improved with these coils, I ran around 3ms dwell but it was good even with 2.75
the only thing I noticed the car wanted very low afr's with these coils, in the low 9's made most power

becareful what coils you get, i burned two x4 boxes using my msd 8232 coils, then i realized it was the coils -__-, you gotta run a cdi to use them.

Ok, just thinking what this thread is asking. What do you guys think of this. I do give a friend a hand with his 13b SuperCharged drag bike. I personally arnt a big fan of blowers myself but it is his thing. So during the of season I bought from the States 2 x MSD10 boxs second hand. Also 2 x MSD10 Plus boxs. Asked MSD if the white wire trigger would work using the LTX10 AND X4 box and they said no. But I beg to differ so this is what I am going to have a go at. Both Leading plugs will have there own MSD box and coil fired by the right channel from the Microtec. I will start another thread so i dont get logged out.
I have read in this book were the Platium plugs everyone uses with Alcohol, given the right enviroment can preignite Alcohol. So with that in mind, of i went looking for a plug that has a copper core, non resister, with a plug gap of some where around 40th. Found some, they use them in F1 engines and also fit a rota housing. So now we have 700mjs at the plug with a long induction type burn. The plugs can be bought for $5 US which is to good to be true. So what do you true tuner guys think of all that.
About 40th, just what i was looking for. This is not seen in Rota land but some best power figures are had with 45th gaps as long as you have the energy to keep the heat there. Mind you standed S6 engines come standed with plug gaps up around there. This is why I am going to give this ago with the MSD10 rather than the CDI root which only can supply max 300mj and short burn time. I figure if I can run down around a flat 4.00 afr and keep it alight, and maybe drop the trailing out and see where they leads us. Just thinking out loud if you have any input dont hold back.
Yes I hear what your saying and yes thats what they all say. But I do have a second thought on that. This is how i see this problem. I you increase the denserty of the charge and close the gap up, to try and fire the plug, It maybe easyer for the current to track across rather than to jump across. So maybe its better to keep the gap wider and make the spark jump. Now if it wont jump with alcohol We need to add a hydrocarbon like acertone, just like how Shell A use to be made. But you are right thats what even The TopDoorslammers do with a single 44Mag. There gap is down around 18th but there plug is right out in the turbulance, but Rotas are tucked in a bit.

small world ! ( rockingham )
i remember chatting with the fella about his drive belt walking
and discussing the benefits in some situations of the long burn spark over the multistrike
and changes to the timing requirements if deleting the trailing spark
( i have a custom turbo 6port FC on LPG , and i used to have a wray supercharger on my rx2 )
more details please about your ignition setup , and how those plugs are coping
Hi bumpstart.
I am an old Super Sedan racer for 20 or so years. Havent raced the ROTA for at least 5 season now. Went of and crew for Kieth Higgs in the National Super Sedan Series. He was having problems with his fuel system. Back then they didnt know anything about AFR Meters, so of i went with my MOTEC lamba gauge. Now i sort of are helping Ricky Wood with his ROTA drag bike. The normal **** has ran a 8.7 1/4 mile but is not reliable. So i am having a real close look at it.
