Unhappy new microtech and, uh, new knock

I have an FD and I just put an LT-10s in it. Before this it was a PowerFC. Now I'm getting some detonation at about 5300 rpm. The AFR is fine and the intake charge isn't any hotter than it was with the PowerFC and with the PowerFC I had NO knock, ever.

does anyone know what's up?

Are you sure it not ignition breakup? Even making more sense injector stumble? If you AFR and boost is the same it is not knock.G

well it could be your timing is differant with the mt causing some detonation however if you are having detonation problems I think your motor would already be trash.

hmmm, ok, well thanks, I'll check that stuff out and get back to you G.

maybe it's not detonation because I know the motor's good. the same guy (Tom at Rotary RX) put it in, ported it, and is helping me tune it right now. It only has 6 or 7k miles on it.

yeah, I'm 100% sure it's knock. retarding the timing doesn't work either.

Hey, just as an update:

All the applicable settings on the microtech have been changed/"optimized" with no good results.

Swapping out the microtech for another doesn't change anything either.

Every component of the ignition has been swapped out individually with no improvement. Injectors have been changed out too.

Still, at about 5500 she knocks and stumbles.

do us a little favour. get around 5-10l of race fuel 110-115 octane fuel and put it in your tank. and see if the knock goes away?

your problem is in your crank triggers spiking. they must be getting interference.
you should put a timing light while its on the dyno and see what the timing is doing in real life on a power run.

Still sounds like ign. breakup/interference. Your motor would have gone bye bye. G

well alright, what I think the knock is is a "click" sound that I can feel in the pedals.

we're going to use the crank angle sensor from a series 5 and see what happens.

I'll try the timing light on a dyno run too and let you know what happens.

click sound through the pedals?

man if your engine is knocking. youll heat it.

if your getting clicking through the pedal something is fouling on the chassis.
