Microtech installed-need help

Ok so I got the car today and Rolo is out of town so I tried to get it running. It seems to be running ok but is real rich and breaking up bad.

Is there a map I can just download to get the car running ok? I've tried messing with eveything and nothing seems to change.

Also the map sensor only is showing boost not vacuum and I think that's part of the problem any reasons why this would happen?

If the map sensor is only showing boost you have it hooked into the worng side of the throttle body, it needs to go between the rotors and the throttle body, i find a good place is where the top if the manafold join the bottom of the manafold, there is a vacumme point there,

it will be rich because it is using the 0inhg map not the 15 or 20 map it should be using at idle.

When you say breaking up, is it in the top end??

It's hooked up to the back of the TB right where the three vacuum lines hook in. Right by the throttle cable. Could it be a bad map sensor?

yes it starts breaking up at high revs (over 4k). It starts out low like a blown motor then clears out a little then breaks up and flames shoot out the back.

The main problem is timing it seems. If I got that right taking out fuel is easy.

if i remember correctly one of them is not a good source,
try hooking it into the one at the back of the manafold just to see what it does,

do you have a boost guage?? does it read vacumme?? you could T off that line and compare the readings.

i would say that the map sensor is not hooked up right at all, if it starts off bad then comes good then goes bad as the boost comes up id say the map sensor is not reading anything at all,

the middle port on the 3 ports only has vacumme/boost when the throttle is opened, if you have it hooked to the middle one hook it to the bottom one.

if you have it in the middle one that will be your problem

Tim.
Give me a call at the workshop on 61 2 49661235.
I'll talk you through it all.
Don't go fiddling with the base map.It will be pretty close as it is.
Sounds like the wrong map line connection but give me a call anyway & we'll get it sorted.
Jon

Thanks Jon!!!! Got the car running (and boosting a little hehe) but it's still really rich. The map sensor was the problem. Hopefully will get it fully tuned this week when Rolo gets back.
