Microtech Help

Hey everyone,

Im not new to the fourms or the rx7 its been sitting for awhile and I forgot somethings about the microtech. My question I have an rx7 single turbo street port 1600cc 850cc injectors all the good stuff with a microtech lt10 and x4 setup. The car runs however it is very hard to start I think its not getting enough fuel and requires you to mash the gas in the begining. Also around 4000 rpm it backfires and continues to climb after that problably because of the wide injector gap. Im loooking for some help on how to adjust my microtech to fix these problems even just the starting issue first so I can get it to a tuner. Ill post my map below so you can view.

Joe

bump your idle maps in the 5"Hg - 2psi range, they should not be zeroed... also i would zero out the t*wat maps, you don't need additional advance for cold running.

for the staging hesitation you will need to mess with the staging % figure but that will affect all your pre stage point maps under the RPM point you have it set to stage at.

here is my map, i pretty much have the same fuel setup as you do and have never had any hard start issues. My timing numbers are exact(stabbed at 0*) and my fuel pressure is 43psi open air

means your TPScal % is under the target of 0. raise the figure until the asterisk appears next to the 0% throttle figure, engine must be warm. you may get that error if the car is cold, the mazda TPS are rather crappy and even the microtech can't cure the range it soaks up from cold to warm.

Cars running much better with your map however its breaking up popping anywere from 2500 to 4000 with light and steady gas but if u punch it it will go eventually. Any suggestions on what to alter is it a pump map issue? or rmpcrs/wot map issue?*

How is your Cas stabbed? did you stab it like factory? My map is set up for true timing( stabbed Cas at 0* rather than -5* like factory)If yours isn't then so the timing will be terribly off. Also do you have a wideband?

What does it say for your static timing on the micro? It'll be under the timing lock function

Best info for setting the timing on a rew. Really need to take it to a tuner though and have it professionally tuned. Running it the way it is now you re liable to go bang.

they have a -20 ATDC mark,, for the trailing
the OEM ECU when being timed is using a 15 degree split timing at idle , so when timing is checked ON THE TRAILING T1 LEAD
then t1 = 20 ATDC,, so L1 must be 5 ATDC

to get around this you get out the protractor and remark the pulley for a TDC
else,, you also make all your low down trailing maps a 15 degree split,, and follow the OEM timing technique

to the OP-- is your ID screen telling you this is an FD configured ECU?
as while both timing systems are essentially 12/1 tooth technique
( 24/2 for the FC CAS )
i believe its possible the inbuilt offset in the ECU may well be different and may be insurmountable
( whilst any other brand of ECU will have aced it being user definable )

at any rate,,remark the pulley OR try timing the engine after ensuring the timing maps have a 15 degree split at low rpms
then lock the timing and use the t1 lead to align the timing mark

PS,, trailing is only going to fire once the engine has actually started
( which is why i suggested the remark of the pulley with a TDC or -5 mark to aid in setup with only the engine cranking and the pump disconnected )

Thanks again Rxpeed7 for posting you map and for all the help. The My friends car would not idle or rev up at all before you settings. Now it holds idle and runs good enough until we take it to Orlando to be tuned.

Ps: That is not a 13b-re motor. It's just a 13b-re UIM with an adaptor to a T2 LIM.

Quick vids I took today.
