Does the dash unit do a good job of replacing the stock guages? Or maybe what I really should ask is will I still need to buy separate aftermarket guages like boost, etc.? Or should I just invest in the dash unit and call it good?

That's what I'm doing and counting on. The Dash comes with a button that allows you to scroll through information on the unit, if I mount that button in a smart place I should be able to scroll through info just as fast as a gauge. I will keep my aftermarket boost gauge but will rely on the Dash for other vitals

The Dash Unit can be mounted pretty much anywhere. I would reccommend placing it in front of the factory gauge cluster.

The dash unit has warning lights too right? This might be a good idea.

Yep, it's got a lighted shift counter (like the Ferrari Enzo does) and the shift lights also function as warning lights. They can be activated by water temp, air temp, or boost.

I Test fitted mine inftont of the gauge cluster, and it blocked too much IMHO. Too much of the tach, and too much of the speedo for my liking. Im going to put mine on the idiot cluster.

Man , I want to mount mine on the plastic around the column but, I don't trust it to hold. I don't need anything in the stock cluster but the speedo. Everything eles I have in aftermarket.

I don't have anymore space to mount stuff. I may be forced to put the thing right infront of me on the dash. I'd hate to do that.

I could always fab out somethimng so it mounts to the roof were the sun visor is................or mount it to a helmet & put it on when I drive the car. I

It'll be like star trek!

Yes, the Microtech software has a really cool display called "Data Gauges" mode - it shows analog-style gauges for all of the engine's inputs and outputs, and updates itself in realtime.

...and the only stupid question is the question that's never asked.
