Map help....

Hey folks,

I just got the REW FB back on the road( I blew a center iron coolant passage). I had the microtech partially tuned but things were never really right with it. So I was wondering if someone here with a similar setup would help me out with a base map that I can use just for the break-in. Here are my modifications...

Microtech:
LTX-8
3 bar map sensor
Laptop software

Engine:
Stock ports
stock seals

Fuel:
Aeromotive A1000
6AN feed line
All AN fittings with aftermarket secondary rail
850cc Primaries
1600cc Secondaries

Turbo
HKS cast manifold
HKS 40mm WG running a 6psi spring
AF61 (61mm coldside 1.0AR) non ball bearing

Exhaust:
3.5" exhaust
1-3.5" silencer
1-3.5" Magnaflow race muffler
1- 3" Magnaflow muffler

I think that is all the information that is pertinient. If there is anything that you need to know feel free to ask.

Thanks,
David

Hi,

You might want to use this map as a starting point, I used it too and am running the same size of injectors, only a different turbo. This might get you on the right way.. Its the map of himniracing.
--------------------

This isn't a base map but it seems like a good place to post it anyway.

This is my tuned map that I'm using right now. It's clean and pulls hard.

The car has retarded amounts of mods but I belive these are the biggest variables for AFR....

Stage 3 street ported S5 engine,FMIC, T04B Turbo (60 a/r comp,1.16 a/r hotside, P-trim) , 720cc pri. & 880cc sec. injectors, 40 psi static fuel pressure with RRFPR (1:1 ratio) Aeromotive fuel filter, walbro 255, 3" + exhaust, Low boost setting 14.7psi...High boost setting 16.2psi

Sorry about the delayed response. I have been pretty booked as of late.

Let me ask a few questions if you fo not mind.

1. You used this as a base map?

2. What injectors are you running?

3. I am also running a a1000 will that affect the map negativley? I would assume not however I thought that I would ask.

I just can tell by smell that the car is rich as hell and I want to make it somewhat driveable. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
David

well I used it to get it downtuned to the right numbers. Just to be sure that it will not blow on me. But you can pull out a lot of fuel. If you give me an email tomorrow on r-vanoosterzee@home.nl I will give you my actual settings, these are already leaner and better.

Rogier, your timing looks to much advanced at idle..... dont you think?
You have to set the Opt Static to +5 when your cranck angle sensor is locked at 5 degs as it comes from factory.

No should not. It depends on your TPS. This value may vary.

yes, it should be 5 deg if you use stock crank angle sensor and it is locked at 5 degrees.

Hi Iwan, this is for a FD, believe that is somewhat different. But will try.

Its so advanced because it will keep backfiring, eventhough I keep pulling out a lot of fuel.....

Hi Rogier,

confused from your post.... as it says: S5 engine...... How ever, may be your trigger is set up wrong way, in my opinion, 20 degs are to high for idle.

Well, the base map comes from an S5 engine. The engine its being used for is not. You cant setup the trigger wrong, cause a FD engine front plate has only one way to setup the CAS sensors.

According to you how high should the timing be at idle?

Cheers

OK. Can you share your timing map/values? or sent them over to me? Isnt your manifold glowing red? And what have you set exactley, the timing map or the static timing?

Your package has been sent today btw.

Thanks to both of you and once again sorry for the delayed response.

So should I combine the ignition section of Iwans map with the rest of Skim's map?

I am also running a CAS from a 2nd gen. I had to so this with the GSL-SE front cover. Will that affect anything. I stabbed the CAS correctly.

Thanks again,
David
