ok well i got the whole microtech installed, everything perfect. no vac or fuel leaks , go to start it up and nothing. just cranks, running too rich you think or too lean? running a walbro 255 pump with 550 primaries and 800cc secondaries and when i turn the key before crankin i can just hear the fuel pouring into the engine lol

getting spark: yes
microtech working/wired properly: yes

i smell gas after cranking, no poppin or signs of starting, engine seems to be turning over slower then usual.. recharged battery and it still wont start, i tryed de-flooding it and nothing, swapped out the spark plugs for brand new NGK-R's (made sure they are the right ones) blah blah.. ideas?

Double check how you wired your coil packs.

Do you know your way around a handset well?
it sounds like your staging is way out.

well if your mate knows how to setup staging.

put these numbers in.

Map_stg 02HG
Rev_stg 2000rpm
Opt_stg 50%

And then go to the load map and put in Load_00HG 4.76. see what happens.

it sounds like its running really rich and its killed the spark plugs. put another set of plugs in their.

go to the opt_mixtrm and turn it down 10%.

Yes they are new. BUt they are very easy to wreck. just simply by running them rich you can kill them.

HAHAAHA.. well... FINALLY FINALLY found out the problem.. damn microtech ECU is fucked... internally, where the harness plugs in, brang it to forcefed perfomance , they wiggled the harness a bit while i reved it and boom revs smooth as butter.. gota send the bitch back to microtech to get it repaired now that should cost me a pretty penny.. my advice NEVER ****** BUY USED MICROTECHS!!!!! even if its from your friend!

These things only happen when they are installed incorrectly. And it seems. MOST ARE.

what do you mean? it was installed flawlessly... plus i never dropped the ECU or dropped anything on it, etc etc. it was installed by sombody who knows rx7s inside out. im sure my friend didnt knowingly sell it to me when it was like this, but his engine did blow before he sold it

Look im sorry to disappoint you but none of the rx7s i have done installations on have ever experienced any wiring/computer problems cause i know how to do an install that is going to be reliable.
Some wiring can look pretty but completely rubbish from the inside, and it means nothing if its installed by someone who knows rx7s inside out, it dosnt mean its good.

And for all you know, it could have been the previous install.
So how do you know its not the loom?
