I have Lt8 with a 20b map

I have searched, and from what I have read, the 20b only works with the Lt12. Now my car has an LT-8. There is a map on there titled 13b RAZworks (or something like that). Thats the map that I use. And the 3 other saved maps are titled 20b. I have not looked thru the maps yet, but was wondering if the LT8 is compatible to use with a 20b. LMK thx

An LT8 does not have enough outputs to run a 20b.

Why not? The LT8 will fire the injectors obviously. It is also capable of running 4 separate ignition coils. You really only need 3 signals to run a 20b w/ no spark split, right? Also, I want to use a 20b but have an ltx8s, will microtechusa exchange it for an lt12 unit for a price? Im guessing it would have to be reconfigured to run a 20b anyways, if it in fact is capable of it.

I know. If you can tell me which page number of the LT8 manual shows which SCREEN lets the user change from 2-rotor (4-cyl) 180deg timing to 3-rotor (6-cyl) 120deg ignition timing, then I can tell you exactly what you need to do. I have a manual, but I can't seem to find that information at the moment.

Just wondering because it says that it can run up to a v8 or a 4 rotor on the site. How do the 20bs rotate? If it is in fact a 120 deg rotation like mentioned above, I guess the only way it could possibly run it is to setup the trailing igniton to fire the 3rd rotor. That technically could make sense, but what the hell do I know.

Then again nevermind, because the first 2 rotors wont fire 180 apart anymore. I guess it is impossible to do a 3 rotor, but maybe possible to do a 4 just because you would have 2 pairs of rotors each firing 180 deg apart.

Sorry for rambling, I suck.

The LT8 has 4 ignition drivers. The 20B only needs three (if you run it with simultaneous timing of the leading and trailing spark plugs). An LT8 will not work with a 20B, but the lack of outputs is not why.

The problem (which is sometimes also an advantage) with the Microtech products is that they are not universal like most other standalone EMS's (Haltech, Wolf, etc.). They are made for a particular engine type, and must be reconfigured from the factory in Australia in order to work with another engine. For example, an LT8 for an FD RX-7 will not even work in an FC RX-7. The advantage of this is that it is easier to initially tune a Microtech EMS than it is to install a universal EMS that must be configured for a given vehicle by the user.

Microtech does offer custom services, but I am not sure if they can, or will, make an LT8 work with a 3-rotor engine. However, given the price and trouble of the reconfiguration, I think it would be better to just buy an LTX-12 that is proven to work with a 3-rotor engine and is capable of split ignition timing.
