How hard and how long does it take to hook up microtech LT12S?

Hey guys, i am recently running into some problems with my cars wiring harness, so i decided to just upgrade to microtech from power fc. I was wondering how hard the install is for someone who has not worked a lot with wiring. We have done a lot of the stuff to my car ourselves (single turbo with all supporting mods) but have not really worked with wiring. How long do you think it would take for 2 guys who havent done this before? My father (the other guy) will be assisting with the install and he has experience with wiring, just not in automotive applications.

Also, how many hours of labor does a shop who has lots of experience with these typically require to install this. That would be my other option. I just want the experience with it, and dont want to spend 75 dollars an hour times however long it takes then to install it.

Any one in the Central new york area who has experience with this want to assist in the install, I would be willing to pay you for your time and supply beer and gas money.

Thanks for your time

Adam

not hard at all
if you have what you show in your avatar "3rd gen" then all you need is the plug and play adapter.
more like 20 mins

the only problem their is, that my wiring harness is bad (KDR says this). So i went with the microtech because it has its own wiring harness with it. I kinda tried to kill two birds with one stone. I figured instead of spending 600-900 on a new wiring harness and install it, i would just upgrade from power fc to microtech and use the wiring harness that comes with it.

Any thoughts?

Wiring It Is Very Easy If You Have An Idea About Wiring
The Diagrams From Microtech Are So Simple And Each Wire Has It Own Label On It So You Ont Mix Them Up.
I Think Its Harder To Pull Your Lim Than To Wire A Microtech "serious" Lol

Yes, wiring is really easy. Listen to 1stgen, he has installed all of the microtechs.
All you have to hook up is injectors, coils, water temp, air temp, crank, fuel pump relay, and wideband O2 if using one. Did I miss anything?

as said before, the diagrams are incredibly easy to read and pretty much str8 forward. Just buy a connector pack from radioshack and you are str8. Also you will need some wire for the relays. Other than that its real simple. To me the hardest part was deciding how to run the wires.... mainly for cleanliness purposes. I dont know abou the harness on the fd's, but mine was already at the end of its life. IT was nice to get rid of that crumbling mess.

you can go fast and wire it up in about 3-4 hours, or take a day or two...

here's one i did... wrapped it with the 600* self-vulcanising silicone tape and used the plastic "T's" on the joints... turned out nice and only took a day or so.

Came out really nice, and I thought mine had come out good. Btw did you have to run extra wire? I noticed that when I went to route the harness through the original harness outlet, that it wouldnt reach all the way to the leading coil... so I didnt run it that way..

i didn't have to lenthen any of the sensor groups, but power, ground, ignition, etc... i did.

i really wish microtech (and most of the other ems companies for that matter) would giv you enough wire so you wouldn't have to make splices.

it's ******' HARD to find a grey wire with a red/blue stripe at that angle. can't get that **** at the local parts house.

i'd pay $1 more for a microtech if they'd just lenghthen the damn harness!!!

i think they should just quit being cheap and give an extra 5-10 feet of wire with the harnesses--or at least sell the same colors of wires they use.

you'd be surprised at how many people bitch about the splices being different colors.

which is why I didnt want to splice it. I dont want different wires. They are cheap though, they could atleast offfer a longer harness as an option.

an extra foot or 2 wikll be enough to route it through the opening for the stock harness and still be able to reach the coils.

yea, exactly.

let's say 5 more feet so you have more options... what's that--like $2 for them?
