Max.

i understand exaclty what you are saying, and i will do my best to address these issues, ill pass on your ideas to the apporate people,

as for the dongle, electromotive have a patent on programming a engine managment ecu with a rs232 com port and cable, haltech pay them a fee to do it, microtech wasnt going to pay the fee and thats what the dongle covers.

Wow, my kinda thread, just saw it, havent been to this forum in a couple of months. Down to bidnizz

Crusader, the configuration that I have found works best for streetability is as follows.

% stage- set this value to 92%

Map_stage - start out at about 5" of vaccum, and work your way up to zero if you wish. 5" vaccum on this value should yeild the best results.

RPM_Stage - set this value to around 2800 RPMS, on my car it is set to 2820 RPMS.

After that is done you will need to tune your maps in the normal fashion, so you have a nice smooth powerband.

Hope that helped.

Lemme know

I am tuning a BPU++ FD right now. Street ported 20B housings, T-78, 1600 2ndaries, FMIC, blah, blah, the list goes on and on. He was running a power FC and hit 585 to the wheels, now he wants the ability to tune with a full standalone EMS. The customer bought an LT8 that was configured for a FD, but it had base fuel maps for a completely bone stock car.

I have come across a few concerns as this is my first tuning attempt on an FD. The first thing I noticed was the TPS maxes out at 73% @ WOT, is this correct? I don't think it matters, but I wanted to make sure that had no ill affects on the performance of the ECU.

Since the car has T-78, FMIC, with 550 pri's and 1600 secondaries, as soon as the secondaries came online, it bogged to 9 on the WB. The ECU came to me with the stage% at 50, 0mmHg, and 2000 RPM. I moved the staging up to 99%, 10mmHg, and 3000 RPM and the car wil actually get up to about .5 Bar before it bogs from being pig rich. I have not touched the ignition or timing maps...

I only have about 1 hour of street tuning on this thing and it has gone fairly well considering the condition the car was when I got a hold of it. It would not hold idle and was undriveable, any load on the engine would kill it.

Any help from you bpu++ FD guys would be extremely appreciated.

Jimmy, follow the steps above and adjust the RPM_stage. After that it is just a matter of tuning out the bog from the point that the secondaries kick on. With the setup I described above you should focus on the 2500, 3000, and 3500 RPM maps in matrix mode. with some practice you will have it down real quick.

However I do recommend using the 5" vaccum setting for the Map_stage setting, it is best overall for several conditions, like stomping on it in 5th gear gives a smooth transition when the secondaries kick on, as well as when under WOT.

I have found that in most cars setting Map_stage to 10" of vaccum usually results in some stuttering when you are in 5th gear and stomp on it, and the secondaries come on.

I'm still tuning in normal mode. Moving the stage from 2000 up to 3000 made a big improvement. I don't know if I should move it lower or not, with that big of a turbo it takes a while for it to spool, it is just getting into boost at 3000.

Thanks, BW. I'll give that a shot. I was just happy to get that thing to idle and move w/o bogging. I can't even come close to flooring it yet, so we'll see how this turns out...

I've been not trying to get into these EMS war debates
Me and Brian butted heads on this on the past

only Max started crap
I wont stand still for BS like that
but what ever

I was one of the 1st really to bring up "MicroTech" on this forum
(do a search)
and there was a HUGE debate about it
I'm sooooooooooooooooooo f'ing happy to see MicroTech making great gains in the states compared to a few years ago

I always stated with more market share=more $ which= more $ for R&D= better products

and MT is coming out with expanded/updated produtcs
cause of all those factors and feedback from clients

cmon Haltech had the F2 did it end there?
be real

Someone needs a sense of humor.... Stand for what Kabooksi, that the microtech needs improvement, give your head a shake man, it needs alot of improvement...
And hey evil, next time you go on a moderating binge, try applying what you preach to the right post, and the right poster next time....Max
