you can't run both simultaneously. there is only one serial port for you to use so you can only use one of them at any given time. however, they are interchangeable without reconfiguration.

I'm facing a similar dilemma. KDR is tuning the car for me but I do want the hand controller or DASH unit. Which do you think is the most useful for me?

Hand controller is basically made for in-car LIMITED tuning adjustments. Dash unit I don't THINK gives you any adjustment ability. Dash unit is simply a real-time display of what's going on in the ECU.

As stated, they are both interchangeable w/o any configuration -- many guys run switch boxes to flop between the 2 -- but they cannot run simultaneously (unless maybe you got creative w/ splitters and such, but don't take my word for it). To connect to a PC or Laptop, you have to have the dongle or laptop adapter as Crusader mentioned. You don't need that to connect to the hand controller or dash unit. But I definitely wouldn't want to try to configure my whole ECU on the hand controller -- I don't even know if you can.

Yes "TRAV" i have laptop interface adaptor but no way all time i have this messedge ( runtim error "13" type mismatch ).
I try with win 98 and 2000.
If you have solution i am ready to pay for help.
The only solution i have now is adjuste with Hand controller and go with car at Microtech dealer for adjust.
The dealer near me is at 10 hour from my home.

you might search for that error in this forum (or the http://microtechefiusa.com/forums )
Seems like I remember someone else having that error in the last few months. I don't know if they ever figured it out or not.
