Flames with microtech?

Is it possible to throw fire with the micreotech like you could with the factory ecu? I mean by sitting still and revving it up? I mean since the microtech cuts fuel as a rev limiter and not spark like stock. Am i gonna have to buy an ignition module with a built in rev limiter like msd 6al or something?

Yah i know it might sound corny but thats one of the only things i really miss about the factory setup after going to microtech. I use to make my entrance by throwing flames at the crowd before parking and hanging out for the night.

Drop the timing at higher VACUUM and throw a little more fuel in there at the same time. Unless you're talking about flames when you hit a rev limiter... Then you would need to set up your 2-step (which is really easy to do).

I mean when im sittin still reving it in neutral. For the 2-step would i need to setup the aux in to a switched 12v source? After i do that then what?

Yea, my Lt8 had a 2-step which I enabled. I have a video of me playing with it... but I'll have to upload it to my computer.

After you wire in to the switched 12v, go to AUX screen. Adjust inpRPM to set rev limit, inpTiming set timing retard when the limit hits and inpEnrich to dump in extra fuel.

I've spit flames no problem. I dont know if i have anything like that setup but sitting still i'd rev it to about 8, let it drop to about 65, then hit it again and i'd spit em....

Cool do you still have it enabled? Did you have that setup as an antilag feature? Do you astill have it hooked up?

Like I said I know it may sound corny to some of you but that is one of the things i miss about my car that I have had for the last few years and just recently lost. I dont know if it really matters to you or not but I was "throwing flames" before the fast and the furious came out so if you dont have anything to contribute then please shut up and get lost.

The real question is, if you don't even know how to retard timing and add excess gas, should you be messing around with your standalone EMS?

You obviously don't know what you're doing if you want to cut spark. Yeah! Let's wash away all that oil that lubricates apex seals, good idea. That's sure worth buying a seperate ignition device. That was my rice reference. Why not get a big wing too!

You wanna explain to me how cutting spark washes all the oil that lubricates the apex seals away when the oil gets injected in with the fuel? The microtech cuts fuel, thats what gets rid of the oil that lubircates the apex seals not cutting spark. Throwing flames is not the only reaon i have to buy a seperate ignition, I know that i am gonna need a hotter spark sooner or later because I have seen cars with less power than mine spark break up in the higher rpms. I was asking about getting a seperate ignition device because i know what antilag is and how to hook it up using the microtech but i didnt like the idea of turning my turbo into a combustion chamber. So i was asking to make sure if buying a seperate ignition device would simulate the stock setup so that the oil would still get injected into the motor. In the future dont judge a book by its cover and start calling it names. That just shows how inmature you are and how little you know.

no, I don't. I know more than you however I think it's immature to want to shoot flames. Most people on here with decent and heavily modified cars shoot flames as a side effect. That's cool, but you want to do it on purpose. I call that rice.

This is a technical forum, is it not? This isn't a technical topic. I can certainly voice my opinion, as you can.

Well im sorry people shooting flames is like second nature to you. My car is the only one i have ever seen do it(in person). None of the other cars in this area do and that is one of the many little things that i have loved about the rotary from the get go. You call it rice, i call it unique and cool.

I would much rather have the soft rev limiter of the msd or similar boxes than the microtech way of cutting fuel altogether. The way i see it, with the msd alternating which rotors spark gets cut it prevents to much fuel building up and washing away the oil lubrication.

Exactly what makes you think you know more than me? The fact that you have a different definition of cool or different or unique or whatever it is you like? Or the fact that i ask and discuse something before i do it? I asure you i do know whats going on and how to do whatever i want to my car including messing with a standalone ems.

The oil is injected threw the oil oil injectors and the fuel is injected threw the ports.

well for one thing , did it damage your engine , no one seem to provide any concrete answer to that.

No engine damage from being on it a couple seconds at a time... but yes, flames shoot out with the right combination of heat, fuel and timing. But that's not the point of the 2-step. It's to raise boost for a harder, quicker launch. It does damage the turbo's turbine wheel with repeated use.

There is a diagram provided with your manual. It should show clearly how to hook up a switch. If you can't figure it out form there, then you probably shouldn't do much of the wiring.

Holy ****, Veilside, if you don't know how to hook up a simple switch, go read some electronics books or SOMETHING, stop being a baby and start doing some learning ON YOUR OWN. I can't believe this ****.

On top of that, you don't even know what rev limiters do???? WTF???!??!$?$!?!?$@?$?@?@$?

My car shoots flames just fine without messing with any of my settings. I didn't really ask for them, I guess that's just the way I got tuned.
