Bosch Coils for LTX compared to stock?

All the time I hear that the stock coils on the FC are damn good and don't usualy go out. Well I have had two coils fail on me only on ONE plug. Therefore I want to axe the damn stockers in lew of the Bosch's used with the LTX8.

How good are they compared to stock? They seem pretty inexpensive compared to new mazda ones. Also do I still have the ability to retain the stock tachometer? What kind of plug wires do I need?

Santiago

Thanks guys!

the bosch coils are very good, good for 550+ rwhp and more with fitted with a booster,

if you have a LT8 you will need igniters to run them tho

Nah I will be buying the LTX 8 not the LT 8. It is good to hear that they are good to that high a power rating.

The shockers are just flat badass. I'm using them with a MSD 6A and the spark is mad stong.

I had new MSD blaster coils on my wifes 1st gen, then went to the FC's.... 10X better!! Blew them right out of the water.

If the bosch coils are good for 550hp WITH a CDI, then I would think the stockers are about the same being that I've read the they are good for 425hp w/out a CDI.

My point of view is this: New OE coils are like 200 bucks each or more. New Bosch coils are 47 bucks. My OEM coils are 12+ years old already. They have served out a long life and I don't expect them to keep up anymore. Its only a little more for the coils and the LTX option is free right now so I might aswell take it. THe bosch coils should handle well since they will be brand new. I just want to see if they can handle big power.

himni,

i have seen over 500rwhp on our dynos which is around 580 or so on your DJ with out boosters with my own eyes,

95% of cars in aus run the LTX8, bosch coils and no cdi and run well into the 9's and never suffer IGN break ups or problems, if you were having troubles i would be looking at plugs and plug gaps, the cdi will mask a plug gap issue

ie if you ran B10EGV or B11EGV plug in all 4 holes gapped at .6-.8MM you would run over 500rwhp no
problems at all
