Megasquirt Wtf

Wtf
Ok, so last night I go to start my car. double check all wires, connect MS, and crank.
Nothing.
Check to see if im getting spark, no.
plug in my laptop to my MS, nothing.
All the LED's are on on the front, but when I conenct it to my laptop, the laptop isnt recognizing it.
When I open megatune a warning comes up that reads as follows:
"ERROR:megatune.ini:0034 - the included file MSnS-extra.ini could not be opened"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling megatune twice, with no success, I double checked all my port settings and they all seem to be correct.
Then, i tried updating my firmware, and I dont think hyper terminal is working properly, regardless of what I type in, it shows no prompts.

It looks to me like Megatune just isn't configured properly for msns-extra.
You have to make sure that ini file is in the car1/mtCfg directory.
If all three LEDs are on (and bright) then most likely the ECU itself is working fine.
If they're a bit dim, then you might have low battery voltage or something like that.

Mine does that too. Port Checker, etc all get no response. But my MS works, runs the car (I've done close to 1000mi so far) and I can program it.
Looking at the literature, I assume that I have the v1 firmware, since it does not to a 2 second fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on. I want to change that but am leery to do so for obvious reasons
Don't mean to threadjack, just a bit frustrated and maybe your problem is related to mine somehow. (msefi was about as helpful as asking for tech help in the Lounge)

Well, I discovered the problem I was having was with my serial port on my laptop. For some reason hyper terminal will recognize the megasquirt (I get the BOOT> prompt) but will not allow me to transfer information, as well as megatune will not recognize the megasquirt. I plugged into my desktop, and had no issues.
Guess ill be needing a new laptop.
