Are you getting a steady tach signal when cranking? Do you have spark? Do you have fuel pressure? Settings look reasonable for first start.

He meant on the megasquirt, are you getting a steady tach signal, etc...

We need some more details about how you've got everything wired as well.

Ken, based on his other thread it looks like a 1st gen GSL-SE conversion, but more details would sure help!

Rolf, please confirm:
Engine setup (GSL-SE, S4 na, etc)
MS setup (code version, fuel only or fuel+spark)
Verify operation of all sensors - take a datalog during cranking, and post here.

Likely problems are lack of fuel pump power during cranking, and intermittent or no tach signal to MS.

SE MS 2.2 no spark only fuel oooooo would the resistor between the tach and MS have anything to do with it!?

The resistor is used to eliminate false triggers. You should still see a solid tach signal in MegaTune (a question you haven't answered yet :-)

NEVER try to start the car for the first time without a laptop. In fact NEVER try to do anything with the MS hooked up without the laptop until it's fully tuned.

We cannot help you unless you have the laptop hooked up and can tell us what it's doing.

Could be wiring, the VR sensor conditioner setup, the hysteresis or zero-crossing pots, jumpers inside the MS....

Check those things and then get back to me.

Meaning are you running dual VR or single?

Are your potentiometers on the MS board both turned fully counterclockwise?

And you have the tach input circuit configured for input from the negative lead of the coil?

More details is what I'm trying to get out of you!

I need to know what instructions you followed from www.megasquirt.info in reference to the tach signal.

Rolf,

There must be a harness or MS problem, as triggering from the coil should result in a tach signal without issue. Problems often occur with tach spikes from too strong a tach signal, which is why the series resistor was mentioned a couple months ago. Does the MS box work properly on the stim? If you don't have a stim, borrow one, or send the box off for testing.
