Is a 1.3 K RPM idle high for MS2 V3?

I went from stock to a BNR stage 3 turbo, fuel pressure regulator and larger secondaries, blocked off all emissions stuff, full 3" exhaust (catless), and new plugs/wires/oil. Also MS 2V3, which according to my mechanic who did all the work, requires the car to run a 1.2-1.4k rpm idle, no way around it. I searched around here but couldn't find the reasoning for the high idle on MS. Is that just one of the tradeoffs?

So my tuner is wrong, there's no reason to have an idle so high?

Try lower and see how it runs. On stock ports it should be fine below 1k.

I keep mine at 1k since it seems smoother but it runs OK down to 750ish

I run my bridge port at an 800-1000rpm idle to keep noise down in traffic. Stockport should have no problem idling consistently at 800rpm.

Your mechanic is either ignorant or lying. Or both.

If I had to guess I'd say that the thermowax was left on the throttle body yet not connected to the coolant feed. Thus the throttle plate is being nudged open.

Could also be that this person simply doesn't know how to properly tune an idle so has turned it up to make things easier.

Yo thanks guys, thanks Aaron Cake for the reply.

I'll try to bring it up to him next week and will report back. He's going to be replacing my S4 tps with a ford setup and adjusting the tune, so hopefully it can be addressed at that time.
