What size of Laptop?
Well what I mean is,What is the Minimum Requirements for a Laptop,to run the MS system(tune it whatever)..I originally was going to get a Top of the line Job,But If I can get like a PII or PII laptop, what would I need to have ON it to Communicate with my MS ECU?...I feel that If I happen to get the Damn Laptop stolen(Which I am Hoping that doesn't happen),I wouldn't be out 2k..maybe 2 hundred!..thanks guys..STYX.
I've used an old 133mhz piece of crap to tune mine before... all you need is a serial communication port to connect to the MS.
While it will work with a laptop this unbearably slow, I don't recommend it as its a huge pain in the *** to wait for it to start up etc...
At the moment I'm using an old p4 thing worth next to nothing, does the job great!

Yeah, I have used laptops from an old 600 MHz celeron to a new macbook pro.
The only thing to watch out for is on the newer laptops that don't have serial ports, you have to get a good USB->serial converter.

Thanks very Much for the Info Gentlemen...I think that is what I am going to do.I am going to buy a cheap *** Laptop!..heh!
I tried P200MMX with 32mb ram... wouldn't run Megalogviewer.
I tried Celeron3660 with 48mb ram ... it was rooted (broken and old so I don't know if it was too slow).
I ended up buying a P-M 1.6 with 1gb of ram for ~$300USD. Best thing is a chose a model with a rs232 (serial) port
Look at the Dell Latitude Range. I think the D600(rrp ~$3kusd in 2004) which I choose was an awesome choice. Plus its not too slow to do work on it you are that way inclined also.
The newest model which is the D630 still costs about $2k setup decently now.

I agree with Jobro. Dell D600 is a good choice, that's what I purchased also. They are more robust since the lattitude line is aimed at the business user, has nice screen resolution, comes with a com port,wi-fi, and there is always a no. of them on ebay.
In Australia the grays online auctions go through hundreds of them a week lately.
It really is a beaut laptop for $300usd. I could have gotten a new cheap thing for around the 650-800usd range with no rs232, and a bit more speed etc.
But honestly I couldn't be happier with this thing. I use it everyday all day.
