VR or Hall sensor for tach signal? (searched)

I'm confused about which sensor circuitry I should use when installing a MSII. I assumed the crank angle sensor was either a hall or VR sensor and that signal was fed into the MSII for ignition timing and tach (RPM) purposes... Is that correct? If so, is the crank angle sensor a hall or VR sensor? Also, if you can use the stock crank angle sensor for ignition timing and RPMs why do people sometimes install additional hall or VR sensors?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I don't quite understand this point... I've searched for a few hours now but don't feel 100% about it. Thanks!

It is a VR sensor that is why you need the conditioning circuit. You can use the stock CAS with no mods or you can mod it to use only one conditioning circuit. V3 has one build in so most people mod the cas for this. I use the older v2.2 I need the 2 vr sensor . Look in the FAQ I think there was something there about it.

I think it is the same as the ms1,, u can install both (or one or the other) step 50 (eather 50a or 50b not both) and then install the vr step 51 and use the jumpers to set up witch one u use.The Rotary's CAS is a VR,, Additional hall sensor is just part of the build,,Additional VR siganl conditioning circuit's is if u want to run both stock VR sensors in the stock CAS 1 for leading and 1 for trailing,,or u can mod detooth (cut out 2 teeth on opsite sides) the cas and use the modded cas with 1 VR sensor for both L and T!

read those 2 post below it will give u a better idea
