V3 with MAF??

Any advantages or dis-advantages using a Ford or Bosch MAF instead of the MAP sensor input

A small number of MS users have run MAF. There's a number of threads at msefi.com. You might try a search there.

It would be an interesting experiment to run the car with and without the AFM under the exact same conditions to finally shut up all those "AFM is the root of all evil!" people...

The only advantage to MAF that I can come up with is more accurate measurement of the amount of air. Not all MAFs are compatible with the ms chip though, so you'll want to figure out what the output of the rx7 AFM is...

The MAF code in msns-extra was originally put in to be used with Ford hotwire MAFs that output a signal between 0 and 5 volts.

I think a MAF sensor is able to take the density of the air into account to indicate the true mass of the air flowing, while the RX-7 AFM simply measures flow rate.

yeah, unless I'm mistaken, some people call the rx7 AFM a "maf"

using a ford MAF I guess would remove the need for air temperature correction and stuff like that....

You may want to talk to whittlebeast on msefi.com

Yeah, not confusing the flapper or ball type AFM with a MAF such as the 5 volt Ford/Nippondenso/Bosch instream "hot" wire type sensor.

Well it looks like this is the next tweak to try... just to see if it makes any difference

Are you having trouble tuning or something on regular speed density?

No, just looking at seeing if there is a better way.

Just because there is the way everyone does it, doesn't mean that what everyone uses is the best way... usually just the simplest way.

well MAF will definitely give you a better measurement of the amount of air going in, but there are other issues with it, including, but not limited to the air restriction. Typically if you get a MAF that is large enough to support the airflow you're looking for, it's too large to get good resolution during low airflow situations, such as on idle for example.
