running lean after sitting for a year

So I have a 87 t2 witha v3 computer. I had it sitting for a year. I took off the turbo, hybrid to4, took off my intake manifold, and my intercooler piping.

My first startup after fuel prime and oil prime. it runs! But it was soo lean my car was dieing out. The weird thing is too, my car didn't go through the whole cold start procedues where it revs to 1500 and slowly goes down untill my 1000 idle.

I talked to my friend that helps me out with my megasquirt. I didn't mention the cold start problem yet. First thing that comes to our mind is intake leak. So I tried 3 cans of brake clean spraying everywhere and could not find a vacuum leak!

Now I'm hoping my coolant temp sensor is bad. Mainly because it won't go through the cold start procedure. But why would it run lean? My car hesitates when I pop the throttle real quick and I can see it go pretty lean. I havent driven my car, everything is being done at idle. ANy ideas?

Hook up a laptop with a cold engine. If the CLT reads 170 it's broken.

Also, if you really have not started it for a year, the pintles in the injectors might be getting stuck, causing the opening time to be longer.

You recomend fuel injector cleaner? I was reading Aaron Cakes writeup and I threw the stabil fuel stabilizer , ran my engine and drained all the fuel. But I did still have a little fuel pressure in the rail when I recently messed with the fuel lines

After putting the filter back on my idle air control and running it for a while the air fuel mixture is pretty much back to normal at idle 12.8:1 to low 13's.

I just don't see why my cold startup isn't working. I don't have a laptop which really sucks. I'll ask my buddy to see if he has time. I don't want to start buying sensors if I don't need to

Injectors can stick regardless of what was done to store the car. It is a problem I commonly have to deal with as I am often called in to fix people's failed projects that have inevitably sat for a few years. If you suspect injector issues, bite the bullet and have them professionally cleaned.

Ok. I'm going to try to get this cold start working first. Worse comes to worse, I'll get my injectors cleaned. So far it's been sitting fora year.

Just using them can help, but Aaron Cake is right... the only way to be sure they're working properly is to have them professionally cleaned.

Thanks, do you guys know a good place with a fair price to get injectors cleaned? I had this link years ago, but I lost it.

Just grab the Yellow Pages and look up a local shop. Must be at least a few in Pasadena.
