Old v1.01 help

...a while back I picked up an old v1.01 MS kit from a group buy in 01' for teh cheap. I got it assembled, and sat on it. Now, years later I've noticed the MS thing exploded. With multiple forms of the board, versions of the code, running ignition etc. having been around for a while now, it's hard for me to find any information about this old thing I've had forever that should still work fine for my purposes.

I'm wanting to run a simple fuel-only setup on an N/A 13BT using the stock sensors. I'll be breaking in a new motor on a TII intake manifold [S5 TPS & Dual-Table Code w/ 4x460cc], then hopefully progressing to an ITB setup [Mikuni TPS, unsure of code but have 6x460cc option]. Other than running fuel the only thing I'd possibly want out of the MS is perhaps an e-fan relay output.

Is that possible with the old board, or have I been reading v2.2 stuff all along? If it is possible, what kind of modifications would I need to perform? I'm running all high imp. injectors, so I don't believe I need a flyback board. Lastly, I believe the origional kit came with a 2bar MAP sensor, will there be resolution problems w/ that?

Thanks from a MS noob w/ an old-school unit.

you should be able to do what you want to do just fine.

The 2.5 bar map sensor shouldn't be a problem.

I built one of the early MS kits from the '01 group buy as well, and used it to fuel my FC. That MS has since been replaced with a V2.2 board version, and the older one now serves as bench-test mule as I needed a dedicated test board.

That should all be pretty straight forward. The only suggestion I'd make would be to switch to a recent release of MSnSExtra code and use the staged injection option. It's much easier than tuning the dual table code version, and also includes dozens of other new features. Most of those new features you likely won't need, but I'm sure a few would be of interest.

Depending on your tach signal source, you may need to do some of the ignition circuit mods to get a clean signal. If triggering from the -ve coil terminal, you'll likely find Mike Robert's series resistor mod helpful in cleaning up the false triggers.

Is that possible with the old board, or have I been reading v2.2 stuff all along? If it is possible, what kind of modifications would I need to perform? You'll need to confirm which map sensor you have installed. The early group buy offered a choice of n/a or boosted maps sensors, MPX4115 or MPX4250 respectively. Pop the lid off your box, and read the part number off your sensor, so you know for sure what you have. The MPX4250 was adopted as the standard map sensor years ago, but the code support for MPX4115 is still in place, so you should be fine.

Roger.
