no rpms :(

Ok so I've started wiring in the mega squirt to the car. its a S5 TII with MS2 extra v 3.0 board. I only have the CAS and switched power wired right to the MS right now to test if it reads rpms, but I can't get the MS to read the rpms. It can read fine on a spare cas I have spun by hand, but wired exactly the same to the cars harness it wont read anything at all when I crank it over??? I have checked all the wires im using on the stock harness by way of continuity and they all check out. Another question I had though irrelevant to the current problem, is my clock doesn't roll over when it gets to 255 it just keeps counting? it rolled over on the standard code but it doesn't roll over since I've downloaded the Ms2 extra firmware, just wondering if this is normal. thanks for the help

Sean

here is the msq... I haven't tuned at all yet as I haven't even got to that point yet just trying to get the MS to read the rpm's right now ...it's just wierd to me how it can read it from my spare CAS cranked by hand and not the from the car...I am 10000000% sure I wired it up correctly

If it gets RPM spun by hand, but not in the car, check the following:

1) pull the CAS that's in the car and spin by hand. If you don't get RPMS, you have a CAS wiring problem.

2) If you do get RPM on #1, but not when you crank the engine using the starter, you have a ground problem, or some other noise problem. This is VERY common and can be fixed by making sure your grounds are clean, making sure your lm1815 2nd trigger conditioner is good (possibly putting it into zero-crossing mode), putting a .01 uF cap across G+ and G- where they connect to the conditioner board, etc...
