for muythai

hey guys this forum for megasquirt is so helpful im surprised to see the help and advice given so fast. anyway i wanted to sell my ecu i have now (microtech lt10) to a friend of mine and was thinking to purchase a megasquirt2 ecu. i dont have a problem puttin it together myself but the configuring is where i might need some help. muythai is the ecu simple to deal with after configuring is done? the setup is a 1st gen with a turbo two motor and water/meth injection and planning to go with the high speed solenoid valve from coolingmist.

MS2 does not yet support water injection, so you may want to go with an ms1 chip, but once you have done all the mods and gotten all the base configuration down, I don't think it's that difficult.

However, a lot of people here may tell you different, and I'm not really a good person to ask, since I wrote a lot of ms2/extra, and helped write several rotary-specific features for the ms1.

Bottom line is that initial configuration (wiring, building board, etc...) might be slightly more difficult than other standalones, but the software and tuning are about the same.

My opinion is that the ms2/extra firmware, or ms1/extra is every bit as good, although different.

Where most people run into trouble is with the mods required to the MS to support a rotary.

MS1/extra controls to .1 ms, ms1/extra-hires controls to a microsecond, but the underlying math is only really accurate to .01 ms.

MS2 and MS2/extra control the pulsewidth to .667 usec, although I've done some stuff to MS2/extra to make it a bit more stable.

You can datalog exhaust temp with all three as long as you build the circuit.

MS2 is a LOT more accurate than ms2. That said, it makes a difference mostly in drivability, and not max power.

I don't know anything about the microtech, but the MS is very capable, so it'll be able to run your engine just fine.

I was asked to comment on this because I have experience with both ECUs.

I have tuned MicroTechs, Haltechs, Power FCs, and now I am working on a MS. What I have found is that I really don't like MicroTech all that much for a number of reasons. I am not really alone in thinking that, some of the other tuners will tell you the same.

Dollar for dollar, you will get a MUCH more flexible ECU with the MS. I hate to admit that since I am a staunch supporter of the Haltech. But after my experiences, I have to begrudgingly admit that the MS is quite a capable ECU, and even has MORE functionality then my Haltech does.

I think you would be much happier with the MS. Just my .02.

thanks jrat i really appreciate the input you can give all the input you want i dont mind. i really feel the microtech is limited in certain aspects. my plans at first was to get an ecu that boost control, control water injection, fuel and ignition, and datalog everything want to datalog. i know the ms1 can water inject and not the ms2 but is there soon to be a feature that will allow it with ms2. ive read the ms2 to control everything a little bit more precise.
