Megasquirt MSQ check, turbo II S4 pnp setup
MSQ check, turbo II S4 pnp setup
Im having a hard time getting the car to idle and be able to tune the MS. When is cold I can manage to get the car started with some hesitation and only at about 2000rpms holding the gas and I have to feather the throttle a bit to keep it running. If I let go of the gas it dies slowly and floods the spark plugs right away. Once its warm is even harder to start, unless I switch to the stock ECU.
I wonder if my cranking settings and my ASE settings are ok
Car starts fine with the stock ECU.
BTW its an S4 TII streetported with a PnP setup so I can switch back and forth to stock setup. Single VR circuit, modded cas, running v2.2 board. Stock intercooler and stock 550cc
Attached is my MSQ file
I really appreciate any help on this as I have been trying to get this setup going for about 3 months already and finally Im beginning to see the light...

Generally when I have problems like this it's either because the ignition timing is off, because the fuel at the lower rpm part of your table is off...
For fuel problems, having a wideband O2 sensor helps. For ignition, set the fixed angle to -5, and get someone to keep the engine running for you, then check the timing using a timing light, and make sure everything lines up. Then you can set the fixed angle back to -10.
Most likely I'd say your ignition timing is off.
Of course it could also be something as simple as needing to open the idle screw a bit. If you're not controlling the BAC valve with the MS, this may be the case.
I'll try to take a look at your msq tonight when I'm off work.

thanks Muythaibxr, I changed spark plugs and spark plug wires and car runs better with the stock ECU. Let me know if you see anything weird on my MSQ, specially the pulse width on the crankins settings. Remember car starts but it doesnt stay running too long before it fouls plugs at 2000rpm. Timing will be checked. Ill do that Monday most likely.
thanks!
thanks!
ok SUCCESS I got it to idle at 900 with the street port not bad. Now I have another question hwy use RPM based accel? I had to switch to RPM based acceleration to be able to do this and I played with the maps a bit.
I noticed that I had to lean a lot some of the maps used.
Here is what I have so far. Its very crude but it starts.

OK believe it or not "I had a nasty hole in my fuel map"...
I corrected that with a new map, changed some settings and she is now drivable. Tuning is sure to come once I get my wideband.
Attached is the file, this is for a S4 turbo, this will get you started, cold start is not set yet but once is warmed up should be ok. Very few maps have been posted for S4s TII so I hope this helps anybody that is stuck, like I was.
One VR circuit, cut cas, V2.2 board.
