Arrow Some questions about my prebuilt MS

Ok heres the situation. I purchased a prebuilt megasquirt from a fellow forum member. Its a v2.2 and has the additional board to control ignition, the seller told me it works without any modification to the cas.

1) first of all when looking at the bottom of the board the large chip (pictured below) is not completely inserted. Can i simply push it down into the board or is the unit damaged?

2) i have read on the main ms site and some of the forums ect but I still am unsure how to configure megatune to work with this unit. Can someone tell me exactly what to do in configurator to make this work right.

3)going back to the unit working with the stock cas, every write-up ive read mentions removing teeth from the cas. If this unit does not require it , are there any instructions for how that works?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just push it down. If it still won't work, then it may be damaged, bust most likely it's fine.

It depends on which firmware you have on the MS. It usually involves editing settings.ini for MSNS_EXTRA, and whatever wideband O2 you have (if you have one), then putting in place .inc files for coolant and air temp. Instructions can easily be found here:

http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Ex...nual_Index.htm

Also, there should be a link there for downloading a megatune that will work for the most part (the inc files will still have to be generated and copied).

I'm not sure where you've been looking then, even the FAQ in this section has information on what is necessary to use the stock CAS.

If you've got a unit that is set up for the stock CAS, then all you really need to do is figure out what pins the original builder used for the CAS inputs. You most likely have a dual lm1815 circuit on there, so you just need to figure out which lm1815 is for which signal, and wire the CAS appropriately. The lm1815 that's meant to connect to Ne should connect to pin 6 on the opto-isolator, and the lm1815 that's meant to be for the G signal should connect to pin 11 on the CPU.

OK I was confused when i read the faq because the diagram posted in there clearly shows "modified cas". The previous owner built a harness with all the stock clips so I guess ill just hook everything up if nothing needs to be modified.

Thanks for the other info, is there any way for me to test this unit and see if its damaged before hooking it up to my car?
