Megasquirt MS to open 5th and 6th ports
MS to open 5th and 6th ports
what i want to do is use a rpm sensitive signal to trigger a relay that will operate 2 solenoids to open and close my 5th and 6th ports as well at the VDI on the s5 intake. has anyone done this? can i use a zeal output for this task? its my understanding that the 5/6 ports should open around 3500 when the staged injection kicks in and the vdi in th 5000 rpm range so i would need 2 signals to make this happen. thanks in advance.
You could use 2 of the relay outputs for that on the zeal board.
I'm not 100% sure what transistors DIYautotune specs for the kit, but if they're pn2222a transistors, you should be able to directly open a solenoid with each of them. Worst case you can wire up a relay circuit and use the zeal kit board to drive the relays which drive the solenoids. I did that on one of the cars I set up to actuate VDI and aux ports because I liked hearing the relays click when actuated.

thanks for the input guys. so do i just bring the output from the zeal card to a pin out on the main connector? i know how to wire it past that point. how do you adjust the time in which the squirt triggers the solenoid?
Which MS do you have?
with ms2 you'd just connect a couple of the spare pins under the CPU to the inputs on the zeal board, then connect the outputs on the zeal board either to the relays or the solenoids. Keep in mind that the zeal board does not provide +12v, it provides ground so the solenoids need to have +12v feeds to each of them.
In the software the MS2's spare ports would be used.

ms2 v3. ok thanks for pointing out it provides ground. i would have been baffled why it was not working. so at thiat point is there a window in mega tune or something to tell it when to trigger?

ok bringing this topic back up since its time to figure this out. so i wired the outputs from the zeal card to the db37 spr2 and spr3 the inputs to the card come from js3 js2 now using ms2 extra i found the output port setting tab but cannot figure out what option triggers a signal to Js2 and Js3. anyone got some insight?thanks in advance.
minus 5/6 ports operating ill hopefully be doing my first start up today.

all the iac's are populated already with the vr circuits and the diy site for the zeal card connections is kinda confusing
im going to yank the board out and triple check my wiring on the DC cpuld i ultimately just use the spr pis to go to the relays? and if js1 and js3 are connected into the iac circuit will it effect the vr circuit?
