That's mostly what we did with the car from the Grassroots Motorsports article.

DIY autotune has also done this (as a test-car for the GRM article).

The only difference for both of them is that they both went with the 2nd gen ignition systems.

I don't really see how it's any more complicated than any other FI system. It has pretty standard inputs and outputs.

The GSL-SE is probably the easiest rotary to Megasquirt. You don't need staged injection and the dizzy will trigger the 'Squirt.

when you say 2nd gen ignition you mean a all electronic ignition with a crank sensor? would this be fully controllable by MS at that point? oh i should probably add this this is going into a vw bug not in a rx7 so il be ditchiung the air intake system with the flapper valve and air box.

To use the 2nd gen ignition system you would swap in the CAS and use the 2nd gen coils. The Megasquirt would need a 2nd VR circuit built and the stock VR circuit on the board would need to be configured. Yes, that would allow full ignition timing control.

nice, I've got a similar project going on. I have a sand rail that I pulled a 1600 out of, it was on its last leg, and I estimate around 20 horsepower. just out of curiosity, where do you mount the radiator?

im mounting mine where the spare tire was and going from there . if i had a rail id mount it in the back. check out. shoptalkforums.com conversion perversion section or volkswap.com for more info. for off road you will probably have to do some gearing work for more torque. maybe a 6rib bus trans.
