MS on a Gsl-se

just what it says im getting an s5 intake and going to be running a MS so what exaclty do i need to wire other than the obvious like o2, intake temp sensor, coolant temp sensor, tps, and map? Also do i have to run a CAS. Finally will my factory sensors work, am buying a wide band so dont worry about that.

Your factory sensors will work just fine. You will need to calibrate MS to their value though. This is in the rotary FAQ. You can keep the distributer and use MS only for fuel.

I have a GSL-SE. I also have an S5 intake. I modified the throttlebody to accept a Mustang TPS. You don't need to do this but I'm not much of a fan of map based acceleration and have had smoother results with the TPS. I am running a 2nd gen CAS with mine. I used VB921's for ignitors. I am also using a custom setup that uses 4 trailing coils. This isn't necessary though.

When you get to that point, I have the factory Mazda timing map figured out. You'll just need to use the wideband to dial in air/fuel ratio.

5.0 tps? if so what exactly did you modify? Yeah i did a little more reaserch and know i dont have to use a CAS but what wire on my dizzy do i send to the MS for timing reference? How heat resistant is the MS? im thinking about under the hood for easy access(passenger side firewall) Also is there anyway to use the ms as a rpm switch for the VDI?

when you get somwhere with this let me know your wiring config redbstd. i got a ms and i had it wired up but im not getting a tach sig for some odd reason the tach sig is nuts. when i go to megaview it will say 255 or 60 or even 5. anyway if you or anyone else has any ideas let me know.

rolfs... you have still not said if you're running fuel only with the MS or fuel+spark.

If you're going to use a dizzy, then you don't really wire anything for timing ref, you just run a wire from the - terminal on the coil to the MS (with a resistor in between to help with any tach spikes).

If you're going to let the MS run ignition then you need to leave the CAS in, and mod the MS to read it.

The first car I megasquirted (and the first rx7 to run stock ignition with the MS) had the MS set up to trigger the aux ports and VDI.

yes the resistor could be the answer to odd rpm readings.
