Ms-1 2.2

Im looking at the MS-1 2.2 from DIYauto-tune

motor will be using a set of ITB's from a GSXR and will be all motor... 1st gen dizzy for ignition.

I recently sold my Microtech cause i was going to go with a nice and simple webber set-up. But with the Megasquirt set up being so cheap, i wanted to look it up.

Is the MS1 2.2 is a fuel only set-up?
Is the MS1 3.0 version worth upgrading to for what im going to use it for?
Can any style TPS be used? (wanting to use the stock TPS on the GSXR ITB's)

My friend has a MS1 2.2 that i can get for pretty cheap, fully assembled and tested. His MS1 2.2 is configured to work with the ford EDIS module...

Does this matter since im going to use the 1st gen dizzy for ignition?

By default, the hardware on a 2.2 is setup for fuel only. The V3 board has some circuits which make controlling ignition a lot easier but on a rotary we have to do some additional mods like adding a LM1815 circuit or daughter card to read the 2nd wheel of the CAS. Pullup resistors need to be added to the LEDs to trigger the coils.

But if you are using a dizzy, both the 2.2 and 3 boards will trigger from it for fuel only. With the 2.2 board you will need to add a "Dave" capacitor. With the V3 board you will need a series resistor of about 18-30K between the Megasquirt and coil.

The V3 board is better for running low impedance injectors but you can run low impedance on the V2 board with resistors (actually, 4 low impedance injectors should be fine on the 2.2 without resistors...I've done it).

so for me the 2.2 is just fine then... is this "Dave" capacitor something i add externally, or to the ECU board itself? i didnt see any Dave capacitors for sale seperate on the DIYauto-tune sight...

See this link:

Close to the bottom, under "Ignition Triggering". Or just search the page for "dave".
