Is Microsquirt right for me?

ah...

I was originally looking at MSPro, but really, I'm just running a 6port with a S4 intake. This is in a 1980 with a GSLSE engine. I am thinking of using RX8 injectors, FC coils. There are two items that allude me or I need clarification that it will work. There are two ignition ports with "ALED" and "WLED" can be used as an alternative ignition ports. While playing around with Tuner Studio using the MegaSquirt 2 option and loading up some maps floating around I do not see anything that describes ALED or WLED. My hopes are also to trigger the IAC for warm up and for air conditioner use. I think that Pin# 29 (SPAREADC) could be used for this as an input to trigger the #7 FIDLE idle valve output. I do have a 12a dizzy and associated coils and I am considering running fuel only through the micro but would prefer distributorless.

I am looking for verification that my plan is on course.

Thank You.

If you can afford an MS3, I highly recommend buying one from the get-go. I've had a DIY MS2V 3.0, a DIY MS3X 3.57, and now a MS3Pro Ultimate. The jump from MS2 to MS3X was by far the biggest bang for the buck. MS3X to MS3Pro Ultimate is an improvement in I/O, but the software is the same. Getting an MS3X or MS3Pro (1st gen or Evo) is more than you need, but it's a huge upgrade over MS2. It'll also allow you to do stuff like log oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil temp, etc. Sensors are very cheap and all you have to do is add 3 wires. With MS3X/Pro, you can also run inexpensive and powerful GM LS coils. I ran 30psi of boost and lots of water injection on a set of junkyard LS coils with no spark issues. I know you're NA, but it is nice to be able to have an upgraded part that's readily available and inexpensive versus the stock coils which are getting hard to find and pricey. Bottom line, if all you can afford is an Micro/MS2, it'll work. But if you can afford the extra few hundred dollars for an MS3, it'll be money well spent and will handle any future upgrades.

FWIW, someone is selling a gen1 MS3Pro on the forum for $800. Or $875 with an I/O board.
