Aside from the fact that RX-8 coils suck, no issue. RX-8 coils have been very problematic for RX-8 owners.
2nd gen ignition works very well, is very reliable and FC coils are cheap. Or get 4 LS coils if you don't want wasted spark.

For the RX-8 coils, I had an RX-8 for 4 years and 50,000 miles and aside from changing the plugs and wires every 20,000 miles I never had an ignition related problem. I redlined all the time too. The early ('04-05) RX-8 coils had problems, but the later ones were fine unless you were trying to run a turbo.
All that said, Aaron is right about the alternatives. The 2nd gen coils are very good, and if you want even better coils, the ls1 coils are great. I believe you can find either of those cheaper than RX-8 coils.

the only thing that changes from s1 to s2 rx8 is the distance from the back of the coil.. to the block..
IE
the bracket is taller
and thus the factory fixed the issue with simply more air gap between the insulator material on the rear of the coil and the block
if going turbo then you would certainly want to correct this issue,, or take things further as the extra cylinder pressures may force the issue
for this reason, and the fact you have an ECU capable of sequential direct fire ignition then you should err at more common choices that are often significantly cheaper..
nothing wrong with LS1-7 and LS2-6 and merc marine choices aside the fact you avoid those known to auto discharge ,, and then select an appropriate dwell period for the coil
