Megasquirt Mega Squirt Running unable to veiw window
Hi All.
I am using Mega Squirt 2.25, just downloaded it on to a new home computer. It lets me do my configuration set up. Then when I hit "Run Mega tune" nothing shows on the screen. If I go back to opening the short cut Mega Squirt on the desk top to opens but say that another program is running. But I can not see it or find it. It is loaded in to windows memory but the window will not display it's self. I must end the task manually.

I have no window to move. All I get is the windows task manager in the processes section a file showing I have some thing but when I go to windows task manager applications there is nothing active. And nothing on the main screen.

SCCA,
I've seen this before. Check out the megatune.cfg file, located in your car1/mtCfg folder. The file is updated each time you shut down megatune, and contains basic information about serial port, window size and location, etc. If the file is corrupt for whatever reason, your window will be outside the viewable area of the screen.
The file contents look like this:
------------------------------megatune.cfg------------------------
COM1
50
9600
0 0 740 606
192 127 833 610
---------------------------- end megatune.cfg---------------------
Take a look at the second-last row of numbers. If you see any negative numbers or large positive numbers in that row, just type in the some values like what I've shown above. Save the the cfg file, and re-launch MegaTune.
It appears those numbers are the coordinates of the upper left-hand corner of the MegaTune window, as well as the size of the window. I found large negative numbers in there at one point when I was experiencing your exact symptoms. A quick edit solved the problem. I have no idea what caused it in the first place.
Hope that helps.

if you are using a usb-serial adapter change the COM1 to COMX in the megatune.cfg (the same file that renns was talking about) where X is the port your adapter was assigned to. This should fix it if you're getting the splash-screen when starting up but the megatune window itself never shows up and you have to kill the process with the Task manager.
I've had this problem a couple times when using different laptops to tune. Each time I get it I forget what caused it and feel like a dumbass when I figure it out

Ok thats making progress i tried changing the COM1 to COMX that didnt solve neitehr did changing the numbers in the second line. Though if i changed COM1 to COM2 the program would run but it would say unable to open COM2 and asks if i want to go offline until i select a valid port.
Setting to COMX and COM1 will freeze the program which woudl load into memory but nothing would appear. COM2 or any other com will allow the program to run but in offline mode. testing com one after opening the progrma in ofline mode will also freeze the program. When opening a saved file it displays there were warnings in the audit.log which i have uploaded.
Problem solved, the cause of the issue was the fact the COM1 port was in use by a printer that was setup but not in use. By deleting the extra printers in the printing folder in control panel solved the issue.
