Maximum dwell setting vs Nominal dwell setting

Just a quick question: In Ignition options, the old setting (old firmware, MS1?) was called Maximum dwell and the new setting is called Nominal dwell. Do these generally refer to the same thing or do I have to do the math to find how much ms to run for Nominal dwell (14.4 V?) The old setting for maximum dwell was 3.6 ms.
Or am I better off trying what is mentioned in the Megamanual and drop the dwell 0.1 ms at a time until the idle falters and then adding 0.2ms or 0.3ms (similar to setting the injector pwm values)?
Thanks.

To add, I did search on several forums but I can't seem to find a clear enough answer. One in particular even mentioned that what used to be called "Maximum dwell" was the amount of milliseconds @ 12 volts instead of 14+ volts. If that really is the case, then I guess I would have to set Nominal dwell to about 2.8 ms?
The 3.6 ms setting I mentioned before is according to Aaroncake's writeup for maximum dwell.
Thanks ahead of time for any help.

I talked to Matt @ DIY and he said that they are one in the same. The naming is just cleared up. Maximum dwell is nominal dwell.
