Log - Questions (fuel)

I am attaching my MS1 log. Hopefully someone can see something that I am missing.

Right now, I feel that my TPS is bad. Other than that, I can't seem to figure out what else would be wrong. I got the fuel pump all hooked up right, now. It seems to be getting SOME fuel, but not enough? Shouldn't the MAP also show some pulsing during starting? I would expect there to be more vacuum during cranking?

I was able to start the car on starting fluid, but not on fuel from injectors (this was without de-flooding it). So it seems the motor is not flooding, but it also doesn't seem to be getting "enough" gas. It ran on the NA ECU before moving to the PNP Zeal MS.

So, by it starting by starting fluid, i feel the spark and everything is working ok. Fuel just doesn't seem right.

Thanks for taking a look.

Did you try adjusting the cranking enrichments. When you did get it to start how did it idle.

What makes you think your TPS is bad?

Depending on how it's bad, the MS might be reading it as fully open, causing you to enter flood-clear mode.

TPS: When I attempt to calibrate it using Megatune and use the "Get Value" while on no gas, it'll start at say... 107 (key just turned on).. press gas down... it goes 175... let gas out.. check again... 167... gas in.. check... 179.. gas out.. 185.. gas in.. 189.. and it starts to creep upwards.

I realize that flood clear is setup at like 200ish... i noticed the squirt poppin that at one point... so i turned the car off and tried again while the TPS readings were still low (not causing flood clear, i was watching the flood clear icon on the computer).

Idle was smoothish at about 1000 RPM on stock ecu (NA ecu, MAF, etc) before i decided to move to the MS. Note that it is a new build and has only seen about 10-15 minutes of idle time.

Thanks,

Josh

Check the TPS to make sure that the plunger isn't sticking, and check the throttle body (pay attention to the dashpot) as well.

The plunger isn't sticking... I checked that already. I think I'll just grab the TPS off my vert and see if it does the same thing.

I'll check the TB when i get home. I had given thought to replacing the entire UIM/TB. .. I had originally modified this one a few times to get the NA throttle cable to work it in a Turbo setup. Maybe there's a few things amiss there.

TPS was definitly fried. Stole the TPS from the vert and all readings were great.

My battery is kaput. So I've been using a jump pack to do everything. Is it normal for the O2 sensor to go through it's own warming up process? (Standard Innovate Wideband kit (in-cable controller). I was only testing TPS and etc via key-on for 30-45 minutes on a fresh charge of my pack. By the time I got everything settled and was ready to start the car, my pack was at medium (too low to start).

Shouldn't the bad TPS have caused me some kind of trouble on my stock ECU?

A wideband sensor will take about 30 seconds to warm up to operating temperature, this is normal.

Thanks Ken.

Seems at this point, I'm going to break down and toss out the S4 PnP adapter I have and go DIY DB25 with new wiring. Hopefully by following Aaron's writeup, rather than trying to make this thing work (not even sure the company that made them exists anymore?). I just like that the work for the L&T spark is already done with this.

The company still exists. It's my company.

Is there a schematic of wiring up the fuel pump somewhere (via the S4 PnP Zeal)? I've had to resort to using the AFM/Test Wire. (My TPS was bad AND I wasn't getting fuel).

That's what I normally do. Originally when I sent those units out, I included instructions on how to do this. I'm assuming since you didn't get it from me, it didn't come with that.

My own rx7 is wired that way though (although with ms3 not ms1).
