Kurt staging VS. dual table

Hi guys!

a little intro

Using a v2.2 board and MS1

Its going into a 1980 rx-7 half bridge and using honda cbr600RR ITBs. Those came with 8 injectors (denso). I was unable to find any info on them, so a friend offered to flow-test them. I believe they are 190cc each but we need to confirm that.
4 injectors are really close to the port, and another set of 4 is up in the tb body.

8 injectors of 190cc might seem like a lot, but its not much for a thirsty rx-7

On ms original code, I read that using the Kurt staging method dobles the dynamic range of an injector.
I would like to use the 4 injectors close to the port as "primary" injectors, for a slightly better idle, and then fire the other 4

The question is:

Can you use a dual table, staggered and acomplish the same effect once all 8 injectors are firing? Are they gonna fire simultaneous or alternated?

Thanks in advance guys! all input is welcome

Gabriel

PS: I´ve read the ms forum and manuals a gazillion times, and still can figure this out.

That wont be enough fuel to feed a half bridge. Ive maxed out 4 x 460's on streetported 13b's.

If I remember correctly, the Kurt staging fired pairs of injectors in a ping pong manner, and isnt well suited to having the injectors in different locations in the manifold.

Thats why I wanted to know more about Kurt staging, it doubles the dynamic range of the injector

I think you are misconstruing the meaning of that phrase. It does not double the dynamic range of a single injector. It simply uses the 2 injector channels of the MS to fire a pair of injectors in a ping pong manner using a single fuel map. As the fuel demands increase, the injection events can overlap. If the injectors are in different locations, the engine may not run smoothly at low rpm with kurt staging. Its really designed for running 2 smaller injectors side by side instead of a single large injector.

The purpose of the dual map staged injection on a rotary is to fire the primary injectors only until the fuel demand rises to a point where the second set is necessary. Personally, I think this is a better match for the rotary, and its how the cars came from the factory.

I'd use the extra code, and then use the staged injection feature there. It'll work better than kurt staging, and will be easier to tune than dual table.

Thanks for the replys guys

Forgot to mention its a 12a, not a 13b

I will start with the injectors I have, using staged injection and will go from there.

If I run lean... well, I will have to invest in another set of secondary injectors.

PS: big fan of your work Ken. Thanks for the zeal board
