Ignition timing not the same as the map calls for

Hi guys,
I am puzzled
I am running my 12A on MS2 extra, using FC ignition parts. It is running pretty well so far but I am puzzled by one thing. At idle I should have 8deg BTDC ignition advance (as per my timing map), but using a timing light I see something like 4 degrees ATDC.
I did set the timing setting to fixed zero degree (12a has a zero degree mark for the leading ignition on the pulley), adjusted the CAS using the timing light so my ignition is set correctly.
When I switch the timing to work based on the map, my idle timing seems to be roughly 4-5 degrees After TDC, even though the ignition advance gauge in the tuner studio indicates 8 beforeTDC.
Am I missing something??
Just to make sure I am not crazy, I set the timing fixed to 8 degrees Before TDC, checked with the timing light and I see it flashing where I would expect it to be.
It seems to idle happy, when I rev it up I see with the light that the ignition timing is advancing, I just don't understand why I see it firing AfterTDC at idle, even though the tuner studio indicates that it is commanded to fire 8 degrees before.
I would appreciate any insight on this
Thanks
Peter
