Idle advance not advanced!!!!

My car is running well at -5 fixed timing, however when I switch to map it stalls. I've verified that -5 is at the right timing mark using a timing light. It seems that when I run advance I get a crappier running engine that needs more fuel to keep itself going. Also the stock computer idles at -5 at 700 rpm so why doesn't the megasquirt??? My spark map is a bit of a hybrid but is mostly taken from BDC's extend port settings which is what I also have.
Could someone please take a look at my settings to see if i've missed anything.
Thanks
Jono

Also, the MS won't run -5 timing at idle unless you tell it to.

Sorry about the late reply. I've been away. 26 warnings? It doesn't say that to me when I start it up. How do I get warnings to register?

My setup is: s4 t2 with an extend port, stock injectors, nb tps and techedge wb o2. Currently set to 1379 timing.
I've been mucking around with the idle now for a few days and can get it the smoothest and most fuel efficient at -5 fixed. What I'm asking is are there any standout problems with my setup which is not allowing me to run 10+ degrees like everyone else? I'm new to this and am learning as I go.
Thanks

-5 is where it should be at idle... I've also gotten the best idle at that timing.

I'm not sure why you think everyone's running 10+ there.

ive had my timing everywhere from -5 to 20* advance with out making much difference. of course i seem to be idling kinda high. 1500rpms. with similar porting. high compression tho.

Yeah, if you're idling that high, you'll want a bit more advance. At 800 rpms, you'll want around -5.

The reason I thought to run 10+ advance at idle is that BDC's map uses 10+ at idle in his spark table. I then select -10 as fixed idle which uses the map. So now i'm running 10 degrees+ advanced which doesn't work very well. Ken you stated in BDC's spark table message topic thingy that you use a very similar map. Could someone please tell me if my spark table is conducive to a good idle. Should I change the the idle areas on my spark map to -5?
Thanks

Are you running ms1/extra or ms2/extra?

Ms1/extra has the "idle-advance" feature which allows you to go to a certain advance on idle after a certain amount of time, etc...

ms2/extra will get this feature in the next few weeks as well.
