Iac stepper?

i am currently about of finish the power supply as said by the ms1 install book.

my first question is

Do we use a IAC stepper, f we do i have to connect jumpers to the DB37.

as of now ive completed instructions 1-19

and when i gt th power supply fully reassembled it says to in stall a test battery in the simulator and plug it into the DB-37 on the ecu board.

correct me if im wrong, but cant i jusy use a DMM instead of hooking up a outside source to the DB-37 terminal

my next question pertains to the "switch", on direction 19 when the L2 inductor gets installed, the directions go off about the boot header on the board near Q9 which is used for reprogramming the ecu

i plan on using my own codes, it says i could use a short wire between the H1 sockets, but id rather run a switch so i dont have to open the case.

is this used regularly

what should i do, some one please set me stright im confused

thanks- nate

Nope, we don't... the rx7 has a PWM idle valve, not a stepper.

You need to use a voltmeter to test the voltages on the various CPU pins with a battery installed. Otherwise you have no way of checking voltage.

Not really, mainly because the ms1/extra (or ms2/extra if you're using an ms2) codes only need the boot jumper installed for the first flash of the firmware. After that they're capable of allowing a reflash without the boot jumper.

how should i go about connecting a power supply? i dont have a null cable, but if i did, would i just power it up through my computers power supply via null cable?

I don't understand your question, what do you mean a "null cable."

You use the stim to connect to the DB37, and provide power to the stim, then use a multimeter to verify +5v on a bunch of CPU pins. You can provide that power with a battery or with a power supply, as long as the powersupply is between around 9v and 15v. (It'll probably work slightly outside that range, but just to be safe...)

When you get to the serial comms construction, then you'll need a straight-through serial cable, and you can test the way the megamanual says for that.
