I just ordered my first Megasquirt kit!
Ordered the kit and wiring harness from DIYauto-tune. I will be using it on a 91 NA engine that is going into my 85 GSL daily driver. I will start with fuel only control with a dizzy controlling spark and work my way up from there. The engine should be assembled by the end of the year and will be streetported including exhaust as I have switched the sleeves. I have the Streetport exhaust setup from Racing Beat that I ran on my 12a (with a 13b header). I will start of with leaving the aux ports shut and the VDI closed until I get used to tuning, then I will go for that high rev greatness. I have an Innovate LC-1 so it should simplify things quite a bit, expecially once I do get into the tuning of the VDI and aux ports.
the VDI and aux ports make a HUGE difference... mostly the aux ports though...
When tofuball was tuning, if his aux ports didn't open, by 5000 rpms, his engine needed at least 20% less fuel than it did with the aux ports open... the aux ports make a huge difference, so it's worth having them under Megasquirt control from the start.

nope, but it's very simple...
just use 2 of the spare pins on the MS board, along with the generic outputs on the msns-extra daughtercard (or a circuit you build to mimic those) to trigger the solenoids. As long as the transistors can handle over .6A of current you should be ok. I believe the pn2222a handles 1A, I've been using those to directly trigger solenoids on my GXL with no problem (although not for VDI or aux, I believe the solenoids are pretty much the same electrically.
All you do is supply power to one of the pins on the solenoid, run a wire from the other pin to the transistor circuit that you create, and set up the software.
I'll add more details with circuit diagrams to the FAQ in the next few days.

For your innovative LC-1 check the innovative forum and look for a thread on LC-1 on megasquirt. A helpful squirted sent me info that you put into the ini. file to configure the megasquirt to use the LC-1. Its prolly a few pages into the thread as this was a few months ago. My sn is the same there. Take your time building the MS and always follow Muy's advice he knows what he's doing. Good luck.
